Corey Williams cost was to high

For what he finally signed at, I agree. We could have used the franchise tag on him, which would not have been an unreasonable cost.
No, I'm not knocking the trade of Williams, I just wouldn't be surprised to see Jennings go the same way.

The thing about that is, we DID use the franchise tag on him, and then we traded him.
Greg Jennings is one of my favorite players on this team. And he's on of our best players on this team. I don't see Ted Thompson letting him go, and if he does, he should be fired the second that he does it.

Thompson has shown a tendency to set a value on a player (which often appears to be below market value) and to not pay above that value. There's a great potential that a bidding war for Jennings to exceed that value. Our only hope, in my opinion, is to give him enough money up front (2009) to make it worth his while to sign a year early for less overall than he'd make in 2010. His salary this year is the minimum salary for a 3rd year player ($535K, with no bonuses).
Unfortunately, based on past performance (Javon Walker, Williams, etc) I would not be surprised at all to see Jennings traded for draft picks (assuming Thompson can find a trading partner willing to meet his asking price). With Jones, Nelson, Martin (and Driver, though I'm not sure how many years he has left), Thompson may feel he can draft a decent, cheaper receiver or two and save the $$.
