A lot of the 49er fans are underestimating us from what I've been reading on some forums. I think we are a better, healthier team than the team that played in last years playoff game. I believe we will go into that game with more focus and play with more fire while they will overlook us. I honestly feel that we can beat them and we should but I won't feel bad or be surprised if we lose. They are a tough team. Just as long as we don't get owned like last year. As long as that doesn't happen then it's a win no matter what because it shows that we have definitely improved. I still see us going 12-4 in the season so if this game comes as a loss it's not that big of a deal.

I may be wrong, and I often am with my convictions as well as opinions...

However. I love a week one road game. Especially against a team that is suppose to be a powerhouse and one of your toughest tests in the season.

IMHO a week ONE road game does not present the challenges a week TWO or any other week road game presents because there is a short time to prepare a game plan, practice and prepare due to the travel time.

Week one on the road is a team building road trip with all the time in the world to prep, plan, and prepare. What a great way to start the season. Especially against a team that is suppose to be a contender and a tough nut to crack on the schedule.

In other words if you are going to have the 49ers on the schedule and the game is being played on the West Coast in S.F. I feel it is best to have them on WEEK ONE then any other week in the season.

Packers - 30 49ers - 24

Book it.

It will be a good test of our new defense. I expect it to be significantly improved.

It's also early in the season, so we won't be as depleted from injuries as we were in the playoffs last year.

This is the game in which we will find out if Mike Neal at OLB is the real thing.

The way I see it is that he moved the offense well when he played. He was on time and accurate with his throws. There is no reason to believe that he will suddenly lose his accuracy, timing, or decision making when in the red zone, both from this year's preseason and his body of work thus far in his career. Just because he didn't throw a TD in a very limited sample size, in preseason where wins/losses don't matter, without all of the starting cast surrounding him, doesn't indicate to me that he will suddenly plummet from the level of performance of years past.

Lots of people are so fond of declaring that preseason games don't mean anything, bla bla bla, etc. etc, but then turn around and attach so much importance to details.

I was watching a segment on FoxSports1 where the two goons talking predicted the Pack would take 3rd in the NFC North. One of the reasons stated was that Rodgers hadn't played enough in preseason.

Kaepernick talked about what a mess our defense was in the playoff game (which it was). I hope he is overconfident and gets a rude awakening.
