I predicted a win for this game and I'm sticking by that, though I won't be at all surprised if it is an "ugly" win. But it will be a win, because:

Prediction: Green Bay 30, San Francisco 20. Rodgers 3 TDs, 2 to Jones. Crosby 3-3 with a long of 56 to end the first half. Kaepernick, 27 yards gained rushing, 32 yards lost to 5 sacks, 1 fumble, 2 int. Matthews (2), Mulumba, D. Jones, Jolly with sacks; T. Williams and Francois with interceptions.

First, hey Buckeyepackfan, I showed your
avatar photo of you and your puppy
with the jersey/cheesehead to my wife and it made
her smile BIG!

Now, onto the game. We haven't really seen
the Packers offense yet, so it's really hard
to know just how we will do.
But the 49's scare me. If we don't do alot
better defensively then we did last year
against them, it could be a long day.

Im just imagining a rookie LT and a less then consistent rt tackle against that pass rush

I'm less worried about the line than the running backs who will be responsible for blitz pickup. Also, I think the threat of a running game will help the line out.

Overall, to me it doesn't make sense to have played Rodgers more in the preseason. Every time he was in the offense clicked down the field like clockwork.

The middle of the field is still a work in progress on D. I think we stay competitive in this one longer than the playoff game but see them beating us in the end. I think this game will provide a good jump start even with a loss because I believe players will step up and show they are for real. I don't predict a large loss. 4 points SF 28 GB 24

The way I see it is that he moved the offense well when he played. He was on time and accurate with his throws. There is no reason to believe that he will suddenly lose his accuracy, timing, or decision making when in the red zone, both from this year's preseason and his body of work thus far in his career. Just because he didn't throw a TD in a very limited sample size, in preseason where wins/losses don't matter, without all of the starting cast surrounding him, doesn't indicate to me that he will suddenly plummet from the level of performance of years past.

Lots of people are so fond of declaring that preseason games don't mean anything, bla bla bla, etc. etc, but then turn around and attach so much importance to details.

I was watching a segment on FoxSports1 where the two goons talking predicted the Pack would take 3rd in the NFC North. One of the reasons stated was that Rodgers hadn't played enough in preseason.

I don't know why people are saying we are worse than last year. YES I HEARD IT FROM FANS!

I think it's fucking crazy...

I mean we still have the best QB in the league.

Our running backs are better than last year. Other than cutting Green. (which didn't make sense in my mind but whatever)

Finley looks to be more focused in his game. We get Quarless back which adds more blocking power. He may be our best all around TE. I still think it's Finley though. We "may" have a second or third weapon in Bostick.

We still have 3 GREAT WRs. We did not lose much in Greg Jennings, who didn't play much at all last year. I think Boykin has took a step up this year.

I actually think our O-Line is better. ONLY by a little bit. Bakhtiari is better playing LT than Newhouse. Sitton on the left side is more helpful than some think. EDS is a improvement over Jeff Saturday too.

D-Line is a HELL OF A LOT BETTER than last year. The presence of Jolly and Datone Jones will have a huge impact. C.J. Wilson is playing better. Daniels is a monster speedy pass rusher, Pickett looks to be still a great run defender. Raji is playing for a contract.. I mean this is the best depth we had here since we've been in the 3-4 defense.

The Middle linebackers look athletic. I love that Brad Jones is starting, A.J. Hawk still looks solid. Francois looks like a legit backup. Barrington is our future starting LB. Only thing I didn't like is that they got rid of Manning. But I think should give Lattimore a little more credit than I gave him this preseason. Plus he's a good special teamer.

Outside linebacker is immediately improved with Perry. May not be the best play maker, but the guy is sure a hell of a good run defender. He will get better rushing the passer as the season progresses. (only played 6 games last year) Matthews is one of the best pass rushers in the league.. Neal, Palmer, and Mulumba, are instant upgrade backups rather than Moses/Walden. Neal can really rush the passer from anywhere on the field. I hope they use him a lot this year..

CB has the best depth out of any position on the team. With the Addition of Hyde, it made our team that much more dynamic. Any Corner we have on this team is 'capable' of starting. I really like this group a lot.

And Saftey. It is probably the weakest position on the team. I hope they choose McMillian to start.. That would be a upgrade over Jennings starting along Burnett.

I just see us having good shot at beating them this time around.. I bet we can hold Gore under 50 yards. We just have to keep Kaeperdick in the pocket and we'll be golden. Also WE HAVE TO BE BALANCED NO MATTER WHAT! We can win this game guys. 31-17 Packers!

Our defense is definitely better this year. I'm excited to see the D.

I think this may be a trap game for the 49'ers as they look past us to their game against the Hawks week 2.
