"Favre has been nursing a sore shoulder all season, but it has not been thoroughly tested"
ESPN

Makes sense, BF has been hit and sacked more times this year than I can remember. The Jets are not that great at pass protection.

I'm sure there are some here who will scoff at that, but kind of shoots a hole in those that are saying he's "washed up", "done", and "doesn't have it anymore".

if it is hurt then would explain a few things..

and at the same time if his shoulder is an excuse, then gives Rodger fans an excuse as well...

Thanks Fred!

I'm sure age has nothing to do with it.

I was wondering about that too. Favre's been sacked 30 times this year (tied for eighth with Rodgers among others). Hopefully, it's nothing more than sore and not an injury because he may not play another year if it is.

Yes. I'm hoping it's nothing more than sore too. Peyton Manning's still good and will threaten BF 's records. I'm sincerely hoping BF plays another season just to pad his records.

Notice another thing - in '07, BF was one of the hardest, if not the toughest QBs in the NFL to bring down. In '08, he's become one of the easiest, if not the easiest to bring down. Is it because of his shoulder and he doesn't want to aggravate it?

You know... maybe this is all a cover up and he's just playing bad because of the... Madden Curse!

Well, on a semi-serious note, if he finishes the season, does that mean the Madden curse is broken? I wonder if those superstitious folks who believe in the curse will try to put a footnote by it and say "well, Favre was technically retired, so the Madden Curse is technically still going strong."

Is it possible this is his escape clause from football? Maybe he is realizing how hard it is to keep going at his age. He has looked tired the last half of the season in 2007 and 2008. This injusy and possible surgery could be a way to get out with an excuse.

What's Aaron Rodgers excuse for looking shaky, confused, and un-unable to win games and make come back wins for the Packers?

Lack of talent?

Oh..that's right.

It's everybody else's fault, even when it's his fault.

This wasn't meant to be a knock on Brett. It was an observation and a hypothetical. Brett has looked tired the last half of both seasons.(observation) It happens with age. After every season the past 5 Brett has hinted about leaving.(observation) He is tired and beat up by the end of the season. This may just be the best reason to hang it up. This way he isn't admitting he can't play because he is getting old but because he is injured.(hypothetical)

Just so we are on the same page.
What's Brett's excuse for looking shaky, confused, and un-unable to win games and make come back wins for the Jets not to mention his poor passer rating and all those interceptions?

Lack of talent?

Oh..that's right.

It's everybody else's fault, even when it's his fault.

Lighten up.

beast (30m) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (31m) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (32m) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (4h) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (5h) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (5h) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (7h) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (7h) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (7h) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (9h) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (11h) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (17h) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (18h) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (18h) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (18h) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (18h) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (18h) : Game not over yet
beast (19h) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (19h) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (19h) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (19h) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (20h) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21h) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21h) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21h) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21h) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21h) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21h) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Ben going to Bears. He'll be out in 3 years.
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : what's so funny?
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Bears are finalizing a deal to hire Ben Johnson as their head coach. (via @tompelissero )
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : Looks like Lions OC Ben Johnson is going to be the Bears coach
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : TD but another failed 2 pt conversion!

Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : WE MAY HAVE BEEN PREMATURE KANATA
TheKanataThrilla (19-Jan) : Time to make dinner
TheKanataThrilla (19-Jan) : Ouch!!!! Dagger for the Eagles
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : DAGGER
TheKanataThrilla (19-Jan) : pass plays
TheKanataThrilla (19-Jan) : Seems some of their passes are too deep. Reminds me of MLF as well.
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : Oren Burks with a clutch pass break up...I will now light myself on fire
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : a run on 2nd down and 17 from McVay? So that's where MLF gets it from!
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : Do or die time for the Rams
TheKanataThrilla (19-Jan) : Kicking field goals are impressive
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : Oh that might be a backbreaker
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : That's what I thought too, just wasn't sure
TheKanataThrilla (19-Jan) : Kicking doesn't make much sense
