I am not one to condone PANIC trades/acquisitions, but if there were ever a time to make one...

We just shelled out the farm and a half for A-Rod, if he cant stay on his feet twas all in vane. I trust Marshall "revolving door" Newhouse about as far as I could throw his 300+ pound ass and as special as Bak has been reported to look, tis awfully scary to put a rookie out there week one against the SMITHS.

Albert out in KC might be available for a 2nd or 3rd rounder, and maybe looking to a rebuilding franchise and offering a few picks for a mainstay LT tackle. Although something of the proportion (requiring at least a 1st rounder) is unlikely in the Ted Thompson game plan.

I think Newhouse has been given enough chances to prove his worth and he isn't worth anything.

Sounds like you agree with my blog post the most Yerko. He was the projected starter all along. I don't think this roster currently had a guy the team felt comfortable with being the starter at LT which was why Brian was moved to begin with.

Imo, I don't want to see a player at left tackle that was being outplayed by a rookie at right tackle when our quarterback is Aaron Rodgers.

I have yet to say Newhouse isn't serviceable at LT until I make my conclusion at the end of this preseason. I'm not gonna jump into a conclusion and say we should start Bak at LT. Although i'm all for it. Just because I think it's better to keep players at the positions they're at right now, if other players like Bak can play LT.

My question for Newhouse is has he improved last season? People are saying, oh Newhouse sucks this Newhouse sucks that, is it not possible for him to improve as a player?

That's why I'm saying I am waiting to see if he can play in Bulagas place. We're not f*cked if Bulaga is truly out for the season. Because guys can play the position well enough to win games. As shown in previous years.

I think Sitton on the left side will help whoever is beside them, I think it's underrated on how much it will help protecting the blindside with our best lineman on that side besides Lang.

This is my plan for the Packers if Bulaga is out for the season.

Put a 1st or 2nd round pick on the trade block for a Tackle. We should entertain this motion, just to see what we could get. I think it is worth it. Depends how far Ted and Mike are willing to go. It's unlikely but anything is possible. As everyone stated, we're not gonna waste anything to keep the best quarterback in the league be left unprotected.

Put Bak on the left side for the first 2 preseason games and see how he fairs. Keep Marshall on the right to keep the line stable. I think it's beneficial to the growth for Bak. I don't believe it would hurt his progression as a player either, cause as we know so far he can play both positions. As well as Newhouse. That is actually a good sign if Bulaga is infact done for this season.

Like where your head is at. The thing about Newhouse is he is a 4th year player, and him not being over there at the start of TC spoke volumes.

Before we panic completely ....... the ACL isn't sure yet - but assume the worst; Sherrod might be a factor, but assume the worst there too. Assume Datko is basically worthless.

We won 11 games last season, and we did NOT get Aaron Rodgers hurt. That happened with virtually no quality RBs most of the season, with Saturday at Center most of the season, and with Newhouse a lot less experienced than now - it generally takes a long time, maybe years for an O Lineman to reach his peak quality-wise. Switching Sitton to the left (and Bulaga) was not just to cover Rodgers' blind side. It also was to make the running game more left-side oriented. For that reason, I think they leave Sitton there and probably bring Newhouse back to the left. That would leave Bakhtiari and the apparently forgotten man, Barclay, at RT.

It's not as good as having a healthy Bulaga, but it sure ain't hopeless either. Having EDS at Center, a little more experience for Newhouse, and MUCH better RBs along with the greatest QB in the NFL - who is pretty damn mobile, THAT to me spells a still extremely good situation.

Certainly not a death nail but it is severely disappointing to say the least. Thanks for the optimism.

We have exceptional depth at a few positions that other teams would covet: RB, WR, TE and CB. NE needs TEs. BAL needs TEs. MIA needs everything. Maybe Ted can swing a trade for a new LT...

Protect Rodgers, the franchise... and if that means we burn an R1 from next year to do so, I'm all for it. I'd rather go into this season with more of a sure thing protecting Aaron Rodgers, and more of a sure thing pounding the left side for our running game along with Sitton.

BTW, Rodgers has been the most sacked QB in the NFL over the past what, 2 or 3 seasons? I DO NOT want that catching up to us the wrong way. Take care of this Ted, please!

I would trade Finley to BAL for Bryant McKinney in a heartbeat. Can you imagine?

I don't think Newhouse was 100% to blame for all 51 sacks (and pressures) but he certainly did have his fair share of responsibility. Maybe playing next to TJ Lang didn't help him and having Sitton there will benefit his play, maybe not. Guess time will tell on that.

My view is, if Bahktairi has been outplaying Newhouse already in camp then it is scary to think that he (Newhouse) will be the one on the left side protecting Rodgers blindside. If you are going to give Newhouse a chance at LT, then you may as well give Bahktiari a chance there as well. I don't feel comfortable with either option but I think Bahktiari would be a better player. Maybe I am jumping the gun on that thought and should wait till preseason is over to say something like that.

I've given up on Newhouse. Being below average to slightly serviceable just can't cut it on this offensive line anymore.
