Weight-gate, as I now affectionately call it, all began when a photo was snapped of running back Eddie Lacy looking larger around the middle than during OTAs while running a short passing route in practice.

My question: Why is this a bad thing?

Now we do have a rather tight-lipped staff when it comes to certain issues in press conferences from time to time, but if this really was an issue, we would certainly have known about it before this social media fiasco began.

Instead, I believe adding a little more bulk may have been encouraged by our coaching staff. Gaining weight is not necessarily a bad thing as long as the player can utilize and carry it effectively.

Lacy was drafted to be a bruiser back; the guy who can carry a pile with him into the end-zone for a game clinching score. Now that we got one, let's savor it. Besides, we have other backs who are leaner for other roles in this offense.

So I say let Lacy get fatter! If it becomes a problem, the coaches will certainly let him and (to a lesser extent) us know. In closing, the bigger he is, the harder the others will fall.

I don't care what Lacy's physique looks like as long as he can run the football.

And as we saw with today's practice and ones in the future, the coaching staff will be putting a lot of stock with the drills between LBs and RBs in those one on ones.

Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : It should be halted now.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : usually spambots are trying to get traffic to shady websites filled with spyware; the two links being spammed were to the Packers website
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : you know when you put it that way combined with the links it was spamming (to the official Packers website)
