From the sideline during the first three days of Packers camp, DuJuan Harris — all of 5 feet 7 inches, 203 pounds — is powerless.

In my last post a member here brought up salary which was something I glazed over myself. I do wonder if salary will play a role in who stays and who goes at running back. I think this article could have been made a bit fuller by getting to some hard details. It read more as human interest which is fine in its own right of course.

Here is the thing I look at with this injury.. it is not leg and muscular in nature.. it is internal core related. I can see them being more cautious with this injury to get it right, but once healed completely, it will not affect his on field performance. Maybe cardio at first.. but nothing that will linger.

Personally, I think the Packers keep Lacy, Franklin, Harris, Green/Starks, and Kuhn. the is 5 between the two positions with Lacy's physical stature being used as the short yardage bull role that Kuhn filled the last couple years.

Very good point made there considering the type of injury, and to the point on keeping five, if this were the case then he definitely has a great chance to stick around. I would just rather us have more depth elsewhere.

Most likely this means Harris don't look like anything other than he is standing on the sidelines and at best the coaching staff has him pegged for the #4 or 5 spot at best.

There are times when I could see him being effective during a game. Against the right defense that is bunching the middle, that has shorter DLmen they could use Harris to hide behind the OL and get outside.

And something I noticed while looking at him is that Lacy looks exactly like him in build, but bigger. If there is any battle I can envision between drafted player and current player, it would be Lacy and Harris.

The other one for the veterans would be Green and Starks who I wisely see people put next to each other. They are battling each other as well. They are both similar in build and strengths. For these guys, pass protection and being dynamic will be just as important as their decision making and ability to break tackles while running.

I haven't watched the practices, but I have read the articles about how well Starks has been doing. However, I still think he's going to be an odd man out. I'm not sure a good training camp is enough to overcome his past availability issues. I suppose it could if he is truly a beast all preseason, but I think he'll fall just short. Any other year recently, he'd probably be a lock, but not this year. I think he'll be cut. He's just not dependable enough.

Rantsports.com thinks Harris' availability (or lack there of) so far this off-season may be taking him out of the equation.

Green Bay Packers Rumors: DuJuan Harris on the Verge of Being Cut

Harris has yet to practice with the Packers in training camp. Head coach Mike McCarthy noted that he expects Harris to remain out for two or three more weeks with an unspecified knee injury. This injury comes on the heels of a medical issue that kept him out of OTAs this spring.

He was expected to compete for the Packers’ starting running back job this summer, despite missing offseason practices after surgery to remove a large cyst from his lung.

It appears he has recovered from the surgery, but his most recent knee injury comes at a most unfortunate time. With the arrivals of rookie draft picks Eddie Lacy and Johnathan Franklin, plus the improved health and effectiveness of veterans Alex Green and James Starks, Harris is way behind his competitors for what may be only three running back spots.

I don't think it's as bad as they portrayed. I think the Packers will most likely keep 4 RBs (and potentially 5, if they use Lacy in short yardage that may make Kuhn expendable).

Zero2Cool (24-Jan) : Raiders hired someone from the elderly home.
dfosterf (24-Jan) : I'm going with a combination of the two.
beast (24-Jan) : Either the Cowboys have no idea what they're doing, or they're targeting their former OC, currently the Eagles OC
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (23-Jan) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you

Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
