The Green Bay Packers found and removed a cyst on the right lung of running back DuJuan Harris, according to a league source. He will need a couple weeks to recover.

This follows up a cryptic message and photo Harris posted on his Instagram social media account, which shows a bandage below his right pectoral muscle and exclaiming “Thank God for team physicals!!!”

Harris had not previously taken part in any practice open to the public this offseason.

The second-year running back elaborated on his Twitter account after our original posting:

UPDATE: While declining to discuss specifics of Harris’ procedure, head coach Mike McCarthy confirmed during his Tuesday press conference that Harris would miss the rest of the team’s offseason program.

McCarthy also said he expect Harris to be ready for training camp, which begins on July 26.

Packers' DuJuan Harris has cyst removed from lung

By Chris Wesseling

Green Bay Packers running back DuJuan Harris has become an advocate for routine medical checkups after doctors found a "fist-sized" cyst on his lung -- next to his heart -- in a team physical.

"It's a #blessing!!! Should be 110% very soon and back to work. Thanks for the prayers and keeping me lifted!!! MUCH LOVE," Harris tweeted Wednesday, adding that, "Everything is fine."

Harris posted a photo showing the bandages after surgery was performed to remove the cyst. Coach Mike McCarthy shared no details about the procedure, but he did confirm that Harris will be unavailable for the remainder of the offseason program.

The Packers are confident Harris will be back by training camp.

After an impressive late-season run, Harris entered the offseason penciled in atop the Packers' backfield by committee. Now that second-round draft pick Eddie Lacy and fourth-round pick Johnathan Franklin have entered the mix along with healthier versions of Alex Green and James Starks, there will be no guarantees for Harris this summer.

The odds are stacking up against Harris now, but that's nothing new for an undrafted, undersized back who was working as a car salesman when the Packers called last season. Even with the lost practice time, our money is on Harris beating out Green or Starks for a roster spot.
