Throughout this offseason, Jennings has subtly jabbed Rodgers, rarely calling him by name and referring to him instead as ā12ā or āthe guy they have now.ā
āA lot of times when you have a guy who creates that spotlight for himself and establishes that and takes a lot of that, it becomes so-and-so and the team,ā he said. āIt should always be the team.ā
Asked in a later conversation to clarify those sentiments, Jennings expanded.
āFor me, Iām such a team person, Iām going to defer to my teammates,ā he said. āIām going to defer to the team, to the team, to the team. And I think when you reach a point where youāre not deferring any longer, itās no longer really about the team.ā
Jennings paused and looked around.
āDonāt get me wrong, ā12ā is a great person. But when you hear all positives, all positives, all positives all the time, itās hard for you to sit down when one of your teammates says āMan, come on, youāve got to hold yourself accountable for this.ā Itās hard for someone to see that now because all theyāve heard is Iām doing it the right way, Iām perfect. In actuality, we all have flaws.ā
