Previous Positions: Quarterbacks, Wide Receivers Running Backs As the Green Bay Packers are in the midst of OTAs, we continue to take a close look at their roster. We begin this week discussing the tight ends. Many questions still remain at the tight end position heading into the 2013 season, and hopefully, the offseason workouts [...]

Thanks again, MBD. I really love these articles you post.

I could live with the idea of Stoneburner on the practice squad - and seeing him move up the following season when Finley is maybe gone.

I see Taylor as an either/or with Kuhn - if Kuhn is kept one more season, then Taylor goes.

I see D.J. Williams as likely gone - unless he can beat out both Kuhn and Taylor. As a pure TE, I don't see him as even close to Quarles, and it seems like Bostick has a lot more potential than Williams.

So my prediction is Finley, Quarles, and Bostick, with Stoneburner on the practice squad like the article mentions, and Williams or Taylor hanging by a thin thread as a fullback if Kuhn is cut.

In his press conference, Coach McCarthy even stated that Quarless is “moving better than he did before the injury” and looks like a new player.

For those of you not living in the MKE area, I saw some footage yesterday of Quarless on WTMJ in OTAs, and man did he look good. Making cuts, accelerating upfield with some good speed. Granted, no pads and shorts, but he looked really good out there. Sounded pretty positive in his interview too. I have some high hopes for #81 this year.

I would love to see Barclay step up and show he can pass block better and win the RT spot.

With Quarless and the RB's blocking/pass catching abilities defenses won't know what the play will be. Is it a run or play action or a draw or a screen?

I hope to see a lot of #81 out there.

I think Stoneburner will make the club in part because they tend to carry a lot of TE and LB for special teams work.

My biggest problem with Quarless is that he often times seems to lose sight of the ball, at times it's like an outfielder trying to make a catch on a ball when it's in the sun, he lost it and is trying to find it again. I'm not sure what causes it but I've been wondering if he needs his sight checked. He wouldn't be the first player who's lived their whole life with out glasses only to play a sport and fined out that he needs them for this or that reason. I mean look what it did for Ricky Vaughn.

Not sure if there will be room for Stoneburner on the final 53 at the beginning of the season,PS is a definite, but one of the reasons special teams play has been better the past few years is that TE's are big enough to block and fast enough to make tackles.

There are 53 men on the roster, 22 starting positions, K,P and LS, that's 25, the other 28 guys don't have to be superstars, they only have to do what the coaches tell them to do.

Sometimes fans forget how important special teams play is.

Taylor and Williams are not going anywhere.

They are too important on Special teams.
