The last time we heard about running back Cedric Benson, he was paying off three citations he received while in Wisconsin during his stint with the Packers. Those citations don't have much to do with his football career, but the same can't be said of the Lisfranc injury that cut short his football season. Benson's

I liked what he did in the first 5 games. It seemed like he was just starting to roll when he was injured. Does the Pack give him another chance or do they send him down the road? I would like to see what he could do for them for a full season.

While I do agree with Pack 93z they may nab a back in the draft that could impact his status, he'll still get a shot. He's affordable, and knows how to run the ball at an NFL level.

I've never liked Benson. I hope the Packers want no part of him. I agree with what was said about getting a back in the draft (hopefully Montee Ball in the 3rd or 4th or somebody decent in the 5th-7th), but if that doesn't happen, I'd MUCH rather see Ryan Grant as an alternative than Benson.

After talking for nearly the entire 20 minutes in very general terms about draft strategy, Thompson was asked -- and quickly deflected -- a few questions on the minds of Packers fans.

In regard to the team having interest in re-signing running back Cedric Benson, a free agent whose 2012 season ended with a Week 5 foot injury: "I wouldn't comment on that. He's an unrestricted free agent, and he has an injury thing he has to get past, but we'll see."

He's had problems with the foot before.

Dude got every hard available, but wasn't a home run threat. Still, I don't think the foot will last the whole season. If we have other depth, we go that direction.
