A pair of explosions rocked the finish line at the Boston Marathon on Monday afternoon, injuring at least a half-dozen people, a CNN producer at the scene said.

The blasts occurred a few seconds apart, shrouding downtown Boston's Copley Square in smoke. Paramedics were treating several victims at the scene, and police ordered onlookers to back away from the area, CNN Producer Matt Frucci reported.

The explosions occurred about 2:45 p.m., about an hour after the first runners had crossed the finish line, Frucci said.

WTF! I hope the injuries are minor.

2 killed, 22 injured, 6 seriously they are saying now. Also two more bombs found and disarmed. It looks like terrorism of some kind. There was a third explosion also at the JFK library.

Wayy to early to be reporting anything now as reports are always changing (and really, the media isn't known for being very accurate with these things right away). But I'll just copy and paste what I posted on Facebook:

So much to say, but not the words to say it.. I hurt for those effected in Boston. But those courageous acts displayed by first responders, police, fire dept., hospital workers, blood-donators, etc reaffirm my faith in humanity.

Please people, don't let a few bad apples determine how you view humanity as a whole.

Gotta keep the faith!

good to see the death toll has not risen above 2. Obviously people are not gonna get negative about humanity in general - just about the perpetrators and anybody out there demonstrating support for the doers of the deed. How's that, Formo? Not too offensive to your sensitive whatever? I say this now when it is still a wide open question as to WHO - the obvious usual suspects, some other group with an agenda, or just some crazy individual - although that last one is looking kinda unlikely.

Now they're saying over 140 injured. Unreal. What was the point of this attack?

yeah, and up to 3 killed.

Do I need to say it again? This is a GOOD v. EVIL world. They (whoever THEY turns out to be) don't need to have a point. We represent what is GOOD in the world, so EVIL attacks us.

Too much like AMERICAN EXCEPTIONALISM hahaha?

No amount of evil committed on that day or any will ever out-do the good.

A well written piece on what happened yesterday. My thoughts were put into words by Patton Oswalt. Thank you Patton!

Boston. Fucking horrible.

I remember, when 9/11 went down, my reaction was, "Well, I've had it with humanity."

But I was wrong. I don't know what's going to be revealed to be behind all of this mayhem. One human insect or a poisonous mass of broken sociopaths.

But here's what I DO know. If it's one person or a HUNDRED people, that number is not even a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percent of the population on this planet. You watch the videos of the carnage and there are people running TOWARDS the destruction to help out. (Thanks FAKE Gallery founder and owner Paul Kozlowski for pointing this out to me). This is a giant planet and we're lucky to live on it but there are prices and penalties incurred for the daily miracle of existence. One of them is, every once in awhile, the wiring of a tiny sliver of the species gets snarled and they're pointed towards darkness.

But the vast majority stands against that darkness and, like white blood cells attacking a virus, they dilute and weaken and eventually wash away the evil doers and, more importantly, the damage they wreak. This is beyond religion or creed or nation. We would not be here if humanity were inherently evil. We'd have eaten ourselves alive long ago.

So when you spot violence, or bigotry, or intolerance or fear or just garden-variety misogyny, hatred or ignorance, just look it in the eye and think, "The good outnumber you, and we always will."
