Let me tell you something I have always tried to do when a loved-one or friend passes.
In addition to remembering the times together, I really think about the things that I admired about that person that I felt that they were better at than I was...
I then think about how I can aspire to emulate that aspect of him or her in my own life.
Every time I find myself having done something differently than what I might have done without that reflection, a little piece of me smiles for both the memory, honor, and gift that person gave me.
A small part of them lives on in my heart every time I do the act or deed that I focused upon, and it amazes me how easy it is to reflect upon where it came from, no matter the amount of time that has passed since I first gave it a thought.
