Ok, everybody's covered just about everything I would have added. Here's a few that I didn't see on any lists (I may have missed them, if so, sorry):

Outlaw Josey Wales
Rooster Cogburn
The Shootist
Men in Black
Airplane
just about any Jackie Chan movie
A Shot in the Dark (first Pink Panther movie)
Commando (a Schwarzenegger movie that's so bad it's good, and it's downright hilarious if you've been drinking...Rae Dawn Chong: "Where's Sully?"...Arnold: "I let him go.")

"My cousin Vinnie" should be on someone's list, imo

Sam Baldwin: Well I'm not looking for a mail-order bride! I just want somebody I can have a decent conversation with over dinner. Without it falling down into weepy tears over some movie!
Greg: She's, as you just saw, very emotional.
Sam Baldwin: Although I cried at the end of "the Dirty Dozen."
Greg: Who didn't?
Sam Baldwin: Jim Brown was throwing these hand grenades down these airshafts. And Richard Jaeckel and Lee Marvin
[Begins to cry]
Sam Baldwin: were sitting on top of this armored personnel carrier, dressed up like Nazis...
Greg: [Crying too] Stop, stop!
Sam Baldwin: And Trini Lopez...
Greg: Yes, Trini Lopez!
Sam Baldwin: He busted his neck while they were parachuting down behind the Nazi lines...
Greg: Stop.
Sam Baldwin: And Richard Jaeckel - at the beginning he had on this shiny helmet...
Greg: [Crying harder] Please no more. Oh God! I loved that movie.

that is quite a list glory days. You had me until you went with the new True Grit.
edit- I do like The Natural but they lose me at the home run popping lights scene at the end. I just hate it. It reeks of Hollywood schmaltz and they lay it on too thick.

Props to Pack93z for including "The Dirty Dozen". I loved that flick when it came out, and I can still watch it today like the 1st time I saw it. SO SORRY, for the non-PC, but what Telly said to Lee (with Jim-friggin'- Brown sitting next to him) is one of my personal great moments in film!

"Patton" - I love the sound-track, plus...

"Next to war, all other forms of human endeavor fade to insignificance."

I think that's right. I don't know if Patton ever said it, have never researched it, don't think it's a GOOD thing, just think it's right.

I know it was made with 60's cowboy hokeyness but I don't care. His scene with the reins in his mouth and firing his guns is one of the greatest movie scenes ever. No disrespect intended but the new version seems to me like someone who buys a little plastic statue of Mt Rushmore in the gift shop below the real thing.

Look, Jeff has the patch over the wrong eye and he has two revolvers. So wrong it hurts to even look at it. [duh]

UserPostedImage

I also love the line at the end when John tells Kim Darby to come see him some time.

Mattie Ross: Trust you to buy another tall horse.
Rooster Cogburn: Yeah. He's not as game as Beau, but Stonehill says he can jump a four rail fence.
Mattie Ross: You are too old and fat to be jumping horses.
Rooster Cogburn: Well, come see a fat old man some time!

Being older and over weight it appeals to me.

Dawn Of The Dead - The original George A Romero masterpiece

Old British Ealing Comedies you might want to try and see:

"Passport to Pimlico"
"Kind hearts and Coronets" - If you haven't seen this you've missed something very special. Alec Guiness plays 8 different characters.
"The Lavender Hill Mob"
"The Lady Killers"

It's already been listed but -

"It's a wonderful Life" Got to be the black and white version not the coloured release (sacrilege). If you don't like this film you are dead inside.
