Haven't seen a read-option play at all on the last drive and this one.

Throwing into double coverage when you are up 13 is ridiculous.

Seattle lost. Glad to see it. I will root for the Falcons here on out.

Watch next year that nonsense will be nonexistent. It's the wildcat effect.

Maybe not next year, but eventually it will lose effectiveness. Defenses will get smaller and faster; Coordinators will find a way to scheme for it. Once that happens, we'll see a return to smash-mouth running backs knocking over tiny linebackers line bowling pins, and then the pendulum will swing back the other way.

Offenses change, and defenses adapt. It's the circle of life, Simba.

Teams will be short lived with the read option. Look at RGIII. Teams can't risk the face of the franchise. It will be used as a tool to help a young team win while their young QB learns to be an NFL QB. We already saw CAR try to move away from it. Heck Seattle is limiting the reps of it.

The guys that do will be battered early enough in their careers that their windows to effectively run it will shorten. The financial aspects of the game will put pressure against it as well, highly paid QB's vs extra hits due to the option game.

Now.. I will find it curious how a guy like Collin Klein's draft stock will be affected by this latest fade.

I am amazed at how effective the read-option has been. Its a design for small time college teams that don't have the talent to play conventional ball. Navy has been very effective with and big name teams hated playing Navy because the game plan was so unconventional from the norm. It is a weird wrinkle seeing it in the pros as an effective tool. I honestly think the best counter for the option is a vanilla defense, to go light on the blitz and stay disciplined.

In a way, it is an answer that is so basic it is easy to miss I guess.

I think people are confusing the read option with QB's who are able to scramble when they need (or want) to.
