This could probably tie directly with this thread  ... oh well.

I've seen and heard a lot of chatter that the MVP race is between Adrian Peterson and Peyton Manning. I think that is absurd. True, Manning came back after more than 18 months away from football and several surgeries, but he wasn’t even the best passer in the NFL statistically speaking. Aaron Rodgers threw two more touchdowns, three less interceptions and had a higher quarterback rating by 2.2 points AND did this on the heals of a 15 – 1 season in which he won the MVP. That means, he was targeted every game as the primary weapon to stop and he still was not stopped! Manning came in with defenses more worried about their running game than him and he made them pay for it.

If you’re going to pair a quarterback and Adrian Peterson, the only one worth mentioning is Aaron Rodgers. And with that said, even though it bothers me like no other to acknowledge this … there is no one who deserves the MVP more than Adrian Peterson. If anyone gets it besides him, they should throw the award away for 2013 and beyond because it obviously does not go to the right person.

AP definitely gets my vote. I won't be surprised if Manning gets it but, AP was the most dominant player in the NFL this season, and that's what the MVP is all about. He had 99 yards in the playoff game and that was a win for that Packers defense?! Simply amazing. And for all accounts that's an average game for ap... Rodgers won't get it. And that's ok because I'd rather see Arod hoist that Lombardi again than get the MVP.

Peyton also had about 300 more yards, better YPA, a better completion %, and his team went from 8-8 to 13-3, while ARod's went from 15-1 to 11-5.

With that said, I still feel A.P. deserves it, and I feel ARod had at least as good of a season as Peyton. I'm just saying we're letting our green and gold glasses get in the way by cherry picking statistics that are convenient to the argument we want to make.

Peterson should win and without a question. Peyton deserves comeback player, he actually missed a season and was close to having his career over.

Rodgers has had a very good season, but he has been off all year. His stats look good, but with this team they should have been even better. I put a good portion of the loses this year on his shoulders along with McCarthy. They were both stubborn and thought that they could keep calling and running plays with the receivers running directly into the heart of these cover 2 defenses. It hasn't been until the very end of the season, where we are seeing some change. I expect a QB with Rodgers knowledge of the offense to go to the coach and say we need to change because we are not having success, or because the pass rush is killing us, or the defense is sitting where we are trying to run routes.

If they had not been so stubborn, I think he easily would have been 45-50 TDs instead of just 39.

I resent the notion that I wear any green gold glasses. I am an analyst and take pride in that so any assumption of bias is offensive. Well, okay, when it comes to Barry Sanders, sure, some bias could be valid there. :P

When everything is added up, Aaron had a better year than Peyton even when everyone was keying in on Aaron. Also, Aaron played WR hot potato and RB hot potato with a sub-par OL that replaced two or three starters. I think Peyton had one OL starter and one RB out. That fact can not be over looked. He was schemed against, Peyton was not, initially.

I'm more upset that the clowns in the media are so quick to hand it to Peyton than them ignoring Aaron. It's clear as heck Adrian Peterson should win it. After all, being a Viking this is the only award he has a chance of wining, ever.

AP +9 would have a much better chance at winning it, but since this is the MVQB award he is ineligible.

AP had the 2nd most yards ALL TIME at his position, Peyton's numbers aren't even comparable to Rodgers' just last year, or Brady in 07.

and even though the Broncos went from 8-8 to 13-3.. remember they were 8-8 with TIM TEBOW and KYLE ORTON. It doesn't take much to upgrade from that trash.

AP deserves the vote.

Heck. looking at it now, you could easily argue Rodgers over Manning as well.

The media and talking heads are way over playing Peyton. The Broncos were not a bad team last year, they had bad QBs but they managed to make the playoffs and win with a TE playing QB. And the Colts were not nearly as bad as their record talent wise, they just gave up, and Luck has come in and taken them straight to the playoffs as a rookie.

But like much of the NFL awards, name is a huge factor, and the press he has gotten because of his injury just magnifies that.

It's fuuny, but true, that had Rodgers NOT had the incredible season he had last year, he'd probably be at the top of everyone's list.
He cost his own votes, because he's being unfairly compared to his last season, which i doubt anyone else could have had.
Base this MVP vote while ignoring last season's numbers.
