Well, had to have a strategy of having thousands of people severely beaten, including beaten to death instead of simply overthrowing them by force.

The British deserved to be overthrown by force. If you look at their history, they're one of the most evil nations that ever existed. They've fucked over a quarter of the planet.

Yes but you are talking about gun abolishment, not gun control. The pro gun view wants to scare people into saying they are going to confiscate all guns and that simply is not the case. There are people in this country other than convicted felons that should not be allowed to own a weapon and it has to do with their mental capacity not that Dumbass Formo thinks I'm a Fascist.

I'll give you that a governmnet can ramrod a society that doesn't have weapons, but do any of you really think our government would be able to disarm this country? No fuckin way could that happen, but we can make laws so that certain people can't own guns. Enforcing those laws is where the problem lies today and thirty years from now.

The other side of this argument is which guns/magazines should be legal. Argue away, but my opinion is that no common swinging dick out there should be allowed a weapon that could fire thirty rounds in less than 15 seconds. It's just not necessary.

I'd probably dispute the "one of the most evil" claim. Not claiming they didn't do a lot of evil via the slave trade, imperialism, and the like. They did. But if I were to pick "most evil nation" (probably about as fruitless an endeavor as picking the best looking woman, and a lot less fun), I'd probably pick Russia/Soviet Union. Between the serfdom under the Tsars, Stalin's harvest of sorrow, really long and dreary novels, and their share of the Cold War, I think they were worse. After all, the Brits did give us industrialization, Magna Carta and the common law, the Scottish Enlightenment, the Oxbridge tutorial system, C.S. Lewis, Monty Python, and some damn good beer and whisky. And lets not forget Egypt and the Pharaohs -- how the Pyramids got built could have been a model for the sugar trade.

Well, it might be more accurate to say that the Catholic Church is a John who has slept with every whore.

But that is what most nations end up doing, after all. The Church is just a special kind of nation with a bit more religion in its constitution. It's the route to getting power and the route to building power and the route to keeping power on behalf of that nation and against the outside world.

It's part of what makes the "nation" one of the most insidious ideas in human history. I suppose we ought to really blame Athens, but IMO the real fault lies with the French, from the Sun King to that bastard Rousseau to Napoleon, the Germans from Bismarck to Hitler, and the Italians from that Piedmont guy to Mussolini. At least the Dutch and the English based their excesses and corruptions on the actions of individual merchants. The French, Germans, and Italians had to go and justify theirs upon an abstraction.

Americans adding the 20th century versions of federalism (version A=jackass, version B=elephant) is just a fresh coat of paint covering up the old moldy plaster.

History is pretty much one group fucking over another group. And being a minority in skin color and looks, DAMN RIGHT I WANT ASSAULT RIFLES. To be blunt, ANYONE DENYING ME MY GOD-GIVEN RIGHT TO AN ASSAULT RIFLE IS EITHER RACIST OR COMPLETELY DEVOID OF HISTORICAL KNOWLEDGE. (Or more likely both).

And once again, I will not apologize for screaming. This is an issue that gets my blood to boil. If the economy crashes (which I sincerely hope it doesn't because the Mrs and I have significant assets which will turn to paper if it does), and the mobs start doing their thing, I'm shooting every single last mother fucker who steps foot on my property.

San Antonio Theater Shooting

On Sunday December 17, 2012, 2 days after the CT shooting, a man went to a restaurant in San Antonio to kill his X-girlfriend. After he shot her, most of the people in the restaurant fled next door to a theater. The gunman followed them and entered the theater so he could shoot more people. He started shooting and people in the theater started running and screaming. It’s like the Aurora, CO theater story plus a restaurant!

Now aren’t you wondering why this isn’t a lead story in the national media along with the school shooting?

There was an off duty county deputy at the theater. SHE pulled out her gun and shot the man 4 times before he had a chance to kill anyone. So since this story makes the point that the best thing to stop a bad person with a gun is a good person with a gun, the media is treating it like it never happened.

Only the local media covered it. The city is giving her a medal next week.

Just thought you’d like to know.

I remain disgusted with the media’s deliberate attempt to whitewash news while at the same time creating their own narrative for whatever sinister reasons.

Dammit. I deliberately used a philosophical fallacy (and a little hypocrisy on my part) to set a trap - a historical tie in. Nobody took the bait. I'm disappointed in you anti-gun folk. I was really gonna hammer in the point.

Oh well.

Carry on.
