I have to laugh at these facts lol. Sure you got the amount right for the team but you forgot to take away the 9 Tds scored by the defense and special teams this year to 4 last year now redo your points thank you. Then you can compare those stats right. Just wanted to make sure the right " stats" are being compared

I phrased my statements very carefully. Nowhere in my post did I claim that all those points were scored by the offense -- I made it clear that they were scored by the "team." It doesn't change my central thesis: the fact that the team has allowed drastically more points this season versus last season puts a greater burden on the offense to score more than it otherwise might have to.

As TC93 wrote on the AcmePackingCompany.com  blog,

Never once in his retirement speech did he mention he was forced into retiring. In fact, he said the exact opposite. And I believe it was from the heart. He either lied then or is lying now.

Favre retired. Then he got a case of buyer's remorse and asked to come back. But that's AFTER he quit. He wasn't forced out -- he walked of his own accord.

But why not go to the horse's own mouth? I don't detect a note of sniveling against Ted Thompson or Mike McCarthy in the speech. To quote from the transcript  of Favre's retirement press conference posted on Packers.com :

I can't leave without saying thanks to Ron Wolf and Mike Holmgren for giving me a chance when no one else would. I'd like to thank Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson, Bob Harlan, Tom Clements my recent quarterback coach, Darrell Bevell. Mike was my quarterback coach in '99. Andy Reid, Marty, ... Steve Mariucci, Mike Sherman, Ray Rhodes, Tom Rossley, and I could go through so many different names and players and seasons. It's been everything I thought it would be, and then some. And it's hard to leave. You think you're prepared for it. I know there's been comments and issues in the press lately about why I'm leaving, whether or not the Packers did enough, whether or not Ted and Mike tried to convince me to stay. None of those things have anything to do with me retiring, and that's from the heart.

I've given everything I possibly can give to this organization, to the game of football, and I don't think I've got anything left to give, and that's it. I know I can play, but I don't think I want to. And that's really what it comes down to. Fishing for different answers and what ifs and will he come back and things like that, what matters is it's been a great career for me, and it's over. As hard as that is for me to say, it's over. There's only one way for me to play the game, and that's 100 percent. Mike and I had that conversation the other night, and I will wonder if I made the wrong decision. I'm sure on Sundays, I will say I could be doing that, I should be doing that. I'm not going to sit here like other players maybe have said in the past that I won't miss it, because I will. But I just don't think I can give anything else, aside from the three hours on Sundays, and in football you can't do that. It's a total commitment, and up to this point I have been totally committed.

I have to agree, It's the Brett Favre difference, We all should have expected this to happen instead of riding the "We are moving forward", and everything is gonna be the same as last year bullshit, a below average defense, and lack of game changing players on offense I.E. Young Quarterback, are the reason we are 5-8.

Dear, Lord! Get over the guy.....he WALKED AWAY....CRIED HIS EYES OUT AT A RETIREMENT PRESS CONFERENCE. Did he want back at some point? Yep....twice! And when Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy were to go down to make it official, he changed minds again.....only to change it again....when it was too late.

Get over the teary prima donna, and his selfish, "I am bigger than the team" ways. The "great teammate" who had seperate/private locker space at Lambeau....you know....don't want to mingle with the riff-raff.

Dudes time has come and gone....and we are fortunate to apparently have a quality successor....who actually likes being around his teammates.

We would have been a better team this year had we had Brett Favre. I have no problem admitting that fact. However, I do think it was better for the future of the team to trade Favre and let Aaron get the starting time he needed and deserved.

FACT:
There is NO PROOF (and no WAY to prove) that we would be any better record wise this year with Favre here.
You can BELIEVE that, but it's not "factual" in any way, shape, or form.

We COULD just as easily be worse then we are with him still here. You can yell "Oh no!!! Thats not true!!!" But there's just as much of a possibilty that we would have been worse as we would have been better. NO WAY to prove....it's ONLY "feelings". A couple years ago we ended up 4-12 with Favre behind center. Why didn't he use his "magic" abilities and make us alot better that year?
He couldn't.....thats why.
He's a great QB......but he doesn't tackle, or defend passes.
Why are we bad this year?
Lousy defense, and special teams that have let us down more times then they have "saved" the day for us. NOTHING to do with the QB position.

Anyone that wants to believe otherwise isn't looking at the facts before making their decisions.
Several times our offense has got us back into games this year, only for our D to fold up and hand the win to the other team.
Thats factual information. Not based on "feelings".

The only flaw I've seen in Rodgers game this season has been not closing games out. We have had opportunities to put some game winning drives against the Bucs, Falcons, Vikings, and Panthers but have come up short. These are games I think we have a better shot to win if Favre is in there. It isn't a fact, no, but it is just looking at experience vs. inexperience. Some of those losses have been due to play calling, and I think specifically against the Vikings we try and move the ball down field more with Favre in there and allow for a closer FG attempt. I do not think Favre would have made us a great team this season, but I do think we would be a bit better. I say this being one of the biggest Aaron Rodgers supporters out there, he's a great QB and despite being 5-8 I still agree with the move to trade Brett.

he made game winning drives in many games. then, our defense takes the field, and the opposing quarterback leads a game-winning drive. asking Rodgers to have 2 game winning drives in the same game is a pretty tall order.
