I'm okay with trading Jennings, but considering the big contract he will likely demand and his recent injury history there might not be enough offered for him.
I doubt we would get a 1st, but how about a 2nd, 3rd, and 6th?

Greg Jennings will be worth the 3rd in compensatory picks if he leaves in free agency.. so is a half a season worth one round better and a year earlier in terms of pick value?

Personally, if we are going to trade him it should be for talent that may be controllable past this season and be able to help this season. Find an AFC team with lack of talent at WR that may have young depth on defense? Bills come to mind.. and move him for a later round pick and some talent that can help this season.

Otherwise you sit on him. You risk nothing in terms of the PR hit for trading Jennings, and you more than likely garner a 3rd round pick in 2014 if he walks. Utilize him this season for another run and if he keeps struggling to stay on the field, his price tag is going to lower as well. Options.

McGinn's article does a decent job of looking at the big picture, however it seems to have undertones of a lost season after one game.

Packers win tonight.. and perspectives change.

I think Jennings got the message.. his focus will return on field production, it will due to a contract year. My opinion.. use that.

I think best case we get multiple picks in 2013. If we could get that I think pull the trigger.

It would be real nice though to move him for a stud defensive player.

Everything cruising along, then out of nowhere, you have an injury history....it's true, but it snuck up on me. Sad, but it IS after all, a business.

And I don't think he would return a stud defensive player.. but at this point, a solid player would impact our defense. Example.. Bills a player like Vet McGee/a Young Aaron Williams would help us. Bills need WR help, but have a couple of nice secondary chips that would help us.

Otherwise.. his production outweighs a net gain of a maybe a 2nd over a 3rd and maybe a year earlier using the below scenario. Someone steps up and offers a 1st.. maybe you pull the trigger.

Hypothetically trade him.. for a 2013 2nd round pick.

Keep him and he walks.. we get a 2014 3rd to at worst 4th round pick.

Still think he holds more value than an 2nd round pick in regards to production value this season.

The other thing we and McGinn is doing is actually speculating what the market will bear for Jennings come next offseason. Point all you want a guys like VJack.. but very few players got overpaid on the FA market this season. I know it only takes one.. but.. anything now is pure speculation.

A player for player trade would be nice because of the immediate help especially if it was a DB, even if we had to sweeten the deal with a draft choice. It depends who we're trading with in regards to picks. If it's the Patriots, Rams, SF, etc. I would definitely want a #1. If it's the Dolphins, Cards, Colts, etc. I would likely settle for a 2.
My dream trade would be Jennings and our 2nd or 1st to the Browns for Joe Thomas, we could even include Sherrod or Newhouse.

No to trading Greg Jennings. It's not worth not having Jennings for the rest of the year to get a rookie who probably won't contribute much until 2014. All of that for like a 1 round improvement from a compensatory pick (if we're going with the 2nd round pick idea that some seem to like). If anything just keep him for the year and tag/trade or tag/keep him another year.

$1.25 million in 2012 based on playing time and team performance.
$300,000 offseason workout bonus
2012: $3.885 million

Flippid comment here, I think he should be getting $6-$8 million per year. I think he's worth that much, maybe a bit more. When it gets to $10-$12 per year, no.

Haven't read the article yet (plan to) but one must think, Jennings has been fairly injury prone as of late. Before these injuries started keeping him out of the game, Jennings was also playing injured (I think 2-3 years ago he was playing with a broken thumb or something close to that).

If he continues to be injury-prone this season, I hope Ted Thompson does get the trade talks going. He surely can get big value out of this. Let's be realistic, Ted Thompson is NOT going to give Jennings Megatron or Fitz money...not even close. Let's get that out of the way and then realize that a trade allows the Packers to ship Jennings to another team NOT in the NFC North (or the NFC at all for that matter).

Sad to say, but when I think of this there are more positives than negatives.

Do he and his agent realize that? Can we afford him even at 6-8 million considering the other elite core players we need to keep? I don't know, I'm just asking.
