This isn't really encouraging, but it is realistic.

I think you have to be realistic about it and think that it might be. I have loved my time with Greg, Greg and I are going to be buddies whether he’s here or not. It’s been great throwing to him, but there’s a lot of guys who may or may not get paid the next few years, and obviously with Jordy (Nelson) and his contract situation, I think you have to think about whether or not there’s room for all of us. If there’s not, obviously you wish Greg the best. He’s a great guy and will be a great friend.

Yeah, I don't really see this as a big deal as much as a recognition of reality. Everyone knows it's business, and Greg, Rodgers, et al. understand that the numbers may not work out. I'm sure that will disappoint many, but I'm sure they will understand the reasoning behind it. Thankfully, Week 1 is here and soon we will move beyond this petty situation.

There is no "loyalty" in pro sports anymore. It's sad, but it's the truth. And that's on BOTH sides.
Maybe that's why they are grooming new WR's. Driver and Jennings gone next year, the new kids move up.

We have to stockpile money and expect to lose beloved players. Aaron Rodgers is not going to re-sign for friggin' Dhazer money.

There is no reason to think Rodgers will not be the highest paid player ever, as this is written. We have a cap. I don't see how we don't lose many players we would love to keep. I gotta shrug my shoulders and hope this works out. I like Greg just fine.

Makes me wonder too, how much flexibility the players have themselves. Are they somehow tied to a figure for compensation based upon their performance through the NFLPA? We know what Brees got. We know Rodgers should probably get at least that or more. What if Rodgers wanted to lead a group of himself, Jennings, Finley and Nelson into Ted's office to see if they could come up with a collective figure for the whole group to stay in GB? Is something like that possible? Essentially, a group, "home-town discount?"

I believe the trade deadline was moved back. If he's over pricing himself, trade his ass.

Yes, it is the reality of the NFL. And to be honest, something Ted is just starting to deal with. Remember back that Ted upon taking control yearly had increases in the cap to help build his team. Now that the Cap has flattened out and the talent is maturing, the rubber is really going to hit the road.

I have confidence in Ted, but really the test of his mettle is coming soon, saying goodbye to stars he drafted and won with. Can't sign everyone and the turnover will be a must.

Full out back peddle...

A day after Greg Jennings went to the national airwaves and suggested he could be entering his final season with the Packers, the star receiver turned to the local media in an attempt to douse the flames on his future prospects.

"I'm glad you guys are asking me now so we can kill it because it's a non-issue," Jennings said after practice Wednesday.

The suddenly burning topic with the Packers set to open the season Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers is Jennings' contract status.

The four-year deal for nearly $27 million he signed in summer 2009 is up after this season.
In an interview he had on ESPN Radio's "Mike & Mike in the Morning" on Tuesday, Jennings alluded to the possibility of being a free agent after playing his first seven years with the Packers, who took him in the second round of the 2006 draft.

"I definitely want to be here, but understanding the nature of the business, you never know," Jennings told the show. "There is really nothing else I can really say or do. The ball is not in my court at all. I have to play the card that I'm dealt. Right now, it's football. That's my focus."
He reiterated that latter stance at his Lambeau Field locker Wednesday, insisting he won't allow talk about his contract become "a distraction."

"It's one of those deals where I can't control the situation," Jennings said. "I have an agent (Eugene Parker). He's working diligently on that. He knows my stance on that. I don't want to be involved in that. I don't want to worry about that from a week-to-week, day-to-day standpoint. The Packers have their people who work on that. My focus as a player and our focus as a team is the 49ers, and that's the way we're going about it, and that will be the way we go about it every week."

Don't want to be involved in that or a distraction.. then don't talk about it. The point in the first place.

Moving on.

Wow, reporters will do anything to get a story. Leave Greg Jennings alone. He's got a game to play Sunday and shouldn't be bothered by idiot reporters who lack intelligence in creating stories so they always go to MONEY. Pathetic journalism. The NFL makes it worse because they FINE players for NOT talking to the media!

I for one think its a good idea, better get a 2nd now, maybe even a first, if the alternativ is a 3rd in 2014.
