From all indications, the ankle sprain Green Bay Packers nose tackle B.J. Raji suffered on the first play of the game isn't serious enough to keep him out for a long time.

Raji had his left ankle heavily taped after he came back from the locker room at halftime and was walking with a pronounced limp. But he spent the entire game sitting on the bench smiling and joking with teammates, which isn't behavior indicative of having suffered a major injury.

"I don't have a high level of concern about B.J. Raji's ankle right now based off the information I was given and also talking with B.J.," coach Mike McCarthy said. "First play of the game, that's not a good feeling."

Fellow nose tackle Daniel Muir said he got the feeling from Raji that the injury wasn't serious, but he said he hadn't been told anything definitive. Raji was not in the locker room after the game and was unavailable for comment.

The best the Packers can hope for is that it was a mild sprain. The team has off Friday, Saturday and Sunday, which means Raji will have that time to treat the ankle. There is a practice Monday and another day off Tuesday before the normal work week begins Wednesday.

Who would be his back up IF he can't go? Sucks Muir wasn't good enough. I reviewed his plays over the past two games, and it wasn't good enough for sure.

Starting to really dislike Niner fans. They've been gone for years, then pop out again once their team reaches the Playoffs. This is one serious problem with the West Coast. Of all the teams in any sport, the Raiders have the ONLY fans I respect on the West Coast. Rest of 'em are all fair weather fans.

Query to those of you who watched pre-season games, attended TC, etc....how did Raji look before the injury? Was he the late 2010 irresistible force or was he the 2011 Michelin Man?

Oh no no no. Niners will be good this year. No question! Love that defense to pieces.

Niners and the Giants are the two teams in the NFC I'm most concerned about. The Niner D is for real. They also picked up Randy Moss and Mario Manningham in the offseason, so they have a solid receiver set now. Vernon Davis > Finley. You got two tall WRs in M Crabtree and Randy Moss, plus the speedster in Mario Manningham. Frank Gore is one of the best all-around RBs in the league (he's a pretty good receiver).

Alex Smith has a much bigger chip on his shoulder than 🇦🇷, despite what Packers fans like to believe. The good thing is Smith will never be as good as 🇦🇷 though. But they match up against us pretty well.

Those who can take off their green and gold lenses can see that the Niners are a serious threat. (That doesn't change the fact that I hate their fans).

I still don't agree with the 49ers D being as good as people say.

They played the NFCW which means they had the weakest divisional competition in the NFC.

They had 12 games against below average passing offenses. And lost two of them.

Of the 4 teams they played that were average or above, they lost to the best passing O they played against which was the Cowboys who had a 100.2 rating.

The Steelers were hampered by Ben Roethlisberger being injured.

They lost to the Ravens who were actually below average.

They beat the Lions.

And they beat the Giants.

So they really only beat 2 heathy above average passing offenses. Both of which were under a 100 rating.

The Giants beat them in the playoffs and they barely beat NO with Brees outside on grass in the playoffs. The Saints are not the same team on grass. Brees' rating drops from a 117 to a 96. Which seems to be about all the 49ers can handle.

For those reasons, I personally think they are over rated.

I want to go out like my Grandpa did. Peacefully in his sleep.
Not screaming in terror like his passengers.
