93 i dont see how you can give Bishop any credit whatsoever. IT wasnt just the game sealing pass he let blow by him... he was doing it all day.

anytime 3rd down came... i knew the ball was going over the middle right at Bishop, he just cant keep up. I thought he was easily the worst player on defense today. absolutely the reason we couldn't get off the field on third downs.

definetly wishin we let him go and kept Hodge now.

I never understood why we let Hodge go and kept Bush. Hodge was amazing during the preseason. Bush does nothing but make flighty mistakes in pressure situations.

- They tackle to high.

- They try to strip the ball way to much instead of focusing on bringing the runner down.

- They aren't creative enough and that's on the coaches.

- They're playing two players out of position. Hawk is not a MLB. That much is for sure. You can tell he's struggling with the adjustment because normally he's a pretty sure tackler, but these last two games he's been out of positioned. Irony here is so was Nick Barnett often before he was hurt. This leads me to believe that it might be a coaching problem.

The other player out of position is Charles Woodson. Why is the Packers playing their best cover man at SS? It makes absolutely little sense. Aaron Rouse is more than capable of starting at SS with Nick Collins at FS. Tramon Williams is a work in progress right now. Last week, Carolina went after him and this week Houston went after him.

It drives me nuts watching receivers and runningbacks drag our guys five and ten yards downfield as they vainly try to strip the ball instead of just pounding them to the turf. Watching their runningbacks push the entire pile downfield was torture too.

This defense needs an overhaul starting with Philosophy. I absolutely hate what we do on defense. I would love to have a Philly, Pitt, or Tennessee style of defense here. I don't care if it is a 3-4 or a 4-3, but atack, attack, attack, Vanilla D sucks!

Of course to be successful with any system you need a solid front 4.

Normally our cover schemes if you have the corners to pull it off, is one hell of a defense to beat. That is assuming you have at least a little pressure from your front and the QB doesn't have a 5 beat or better to throw the ball.

Man to man is beatable with time, you have to wait for the receiver to work open. But we have the corners to play the scheme, so that really isn't the problem, and honestly the two over safeties lead to turnovers.. we lead the league there.

So, it comes back to getting pressure and your fronts ability to beat his man if you get him into one on one matchups.. not every time but consistent enough to make the QB hurry his reads.. we aren't getting that done.

People say we aren't creative enough on the blitz's.. I will agree with don't stunt much, name that last time Kampman twisted completely in? But a couple of times today, we got overloads but the backers (Hawk and Poppinga ) couldn't get home.. Bishop got two pressures today.. a Packer record.

My point is, the backers are not being taught how to get off a block or they are not listening to the coaching.. as far as the lineman.. I have yet to see one player use and effective swim move to beat a blocker.. nor have I seen one lineman get under an olines pads and bull rush him at all.. they all loop or in the middle the just kind of stand them up and sit there.

Is it coaching or is it lack of talent?

I can't be sure since I am not in the staff meeting.. but I sure in the hell am not impressed.

As bad as the defense played, I still think they could tackle your mother. Thats how much confidence I have in them...:)

I think our Defensive Problems are mainly on the line, Our Corners are arguably the best group in the league so even with the lack of pass rush we now have they still play respectably. However to expect them and anyone else on our D to consistently cover is unrealistic with the pass rush or lack there of. Trading Corey Williams has hurt us in a bigger way than many of us expected, we get no disruption from the interior, on pass nor rushing downs, Williams despite what many say about him was a hell of a force in the middle and were are missing him (along with injured Cullen Jenkins).

Our Defensive line needs to be addressed in a big way in the off season, we have a good amount of serviciable guys, Cole is excellent for depth, Jolly has a lot of potential, Pickett is getting wore down but he's still one of the better Nose gaurds in the league, Justin Harrell isnt anything special as of yet but he's been able to play an ok role at least. We probably need to bring in a couple of Defensive Tackles in the offseason some big boddies to team up with Pickett along with some penetration guys.

Honestly depending on what type of pick we get from the Jets (if they make the superbowl then defintely), Signing Julius Peppers away from Carolina may be a move worth pondering the price will be steep (2 1sts for a Franchised player) but a move like that could be "Reggie" esque.

beast (16m) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (16m) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (10h) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (10h) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (12h) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (13h) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (13h) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (14h) : Thank you
wpr (14h) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (14h) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (14h) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (14h) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (14h) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (15h) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (15h) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (15h) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (15h) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (15h) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Ben going to Bears. He'll be out in 3 years.
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : what's so funny?
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
