That said, no way that they'll cut Shields.

Charles Woodson, Tramon Williams, Sam Shields, Jarrett Bush, Casey Hayward, Davon House, Brandian Ross, Otis Merrell, Dion Turner.

Those last three guys are a huge longshot to make the roster.

And even if one of them will be impressive enough to make it, I don't see Shields as the guy out. I know Bush has a tendency to stick around, but he's the most expendable of the first six guys.

Woodson and Bush are both at their best when they play that slot position. Woodson doesn't have the pure speed outside anymore to just step in and replace Shields on a guy like Heyward-Bey, Smith or any of the faster receivers.

(Not saying he can't play that position anymore, as I feel confident he has the wits to still be excellent, but you get what I'm saying)

I don't even want to think about what would happen, were we to put Bush at Shields' position.

Tramon's obviously not leaving and both House and Hayward have joined the team too recently and have too much upside to be cut at this point.

So Bush's strongest case, once again, comes on special teams or by converting him to safety on the depth chart again.

In that case, I'm afraid Jennings would be the odd man out.

Anyway, like it looks now, I feel like there's a 80% chance, barring any injuries or something, that the final CB roster will look like this...

Charles Woodson, Tramon Williams, Sam Shields, Jarrett Bush, Casey Hayward, Davon House.

If anything they PUP Tramon until his shoulder heals. That injury makes Shields even more important.

I do think however that Shields will man up this year. Keep in mind, it's still his first ever offseason.

The PFW writer's opinion is incorrect.

While the Packers are always looking to upgrade their talent at all 53 roster positions, Shields is still in the top 4 and will not be cut. His cap number is very low which makes him more likely to stay.
