If Taush suffered a major knee injury, any team signing him will sign him for cheap; no one is going to throw money at a 30 something FA RT coming off a serious knee injury.

Let me introduce you to MM's vernacular re. injuries:
A minor injury means a few weeks. A "set back" refers to an aggrevated injury which equals our for a couple of weeks.

McCarthy called Tausher's injury "significant". Not a good sign. At all, given McCarthy usually sugar coats his injury reports.

He is old and apparently will be coming off a significant injury (sucks for him). I just don't know to many teams that would be excited about signing a player in his situation. If he's cheap, he might be worth bringing back, but we need a long term answer at RT.

Really, we need a long term answer at every o-line position, I just don't think any of the guys, except maybe Colledge and Spitz, are worth keeping. Clifton and Taush are done. Wells gets swallowed up on every snap. We need help!!!

He is still better than Ryan Cook!

The skills to pick an undrafted free agent are very similar to selecting talent in the draft. In my opinion, Thompson does an outstanding job during the draft. Not every pick is going to be a hit, and the more opportunities you have the more hits you'll have, in the long term. Sherman was the opposite, trading away picks to move up, which worked sometimes (Javon Walker) but also had it's misses (BJ Sanders for a 3rd and a 5th, since Sherman used the 5th to trade up).

The problem with Sherman's approach is that you lose your depth and if your starters go down with injuries you're toast.

Thompson's approach leads to a team stocked with a lot of young players, though, and in my opinion where he could do a better job is in bringing in experienced players to provide leadership (Woodson/Pickett/Chillar notwithstanding). With a young club you're going to get a lot of the things that have been plaguing the Packers this year (penalties, etc).

if you give it a few more years, the guys Thompson drafted in his early years with the team will be the veterans..
