Another blow, another name to the injuries pile up.

Veteran right tackle Mark Tauscher most likely has played his last game of the season -- and perhaps his last as a Green Bay Packer -- after suffering what coach Mike McCarthy termed a "significant" left knee injury in Sunday's loss to the Houston Texans.

McCarthy did not disclose the exact nature of the injury, but he usually saves the term "significant" for injuries of the season-ending variety. Asked whether Tauscher's season is over, McCarthy said, "I would say that's probably a pretty good guess. I have not talked to them. I am just relaying the information that has been given to me."

Tauscher, whose contract expires at the end of the season, left the game after the second play of the second quarter and was taken to the locker room for X-rays. He was not in the locker room after the game.

The other injuries were to: S Nick Collins (thigh/shin; did not return from the latter injury), LB Danny Lansanah (arm; did not return); and FB Korey Hall (knee sprain; did not return).

Tauscher Out ...

Moll played pretty well tho the past quarter.

The most intriguing thing is that Tuash is a FA at the end of the year.

This is Moll's chance to show what he's got. Not expecting anything great though.

Yep you guys think we will re-sign him? ... Any quality FA's to cover his hole ?

Not that I'm happy about Tauscher going down, but hopefully this will pave the way for Ted Thompson to cut the aging, oft-injured Tauscher and Clifton, so that he can draft or trade for a couple of monster offensive linemen without all of the maudlin handwringing from sentimental fans that we endured after the release of Rivera and Wahle.

Tough question KG.

If Moll shows he can be a good RT, then I'd say pass on Taush and go with Moll, while having a vet. back-up RT in case Moll falters. Save the money and use it to re-sign Jennings/Collins, or to go after a player like Haynesworth.

I still think Taush has something to give to a team, but I don't think he'll survive more than a year in the ZBS.

As of right now, considering we don't have anyone whose proven to be a good RT, keeping Taush would be important.

He's declined this season. Age and weight are catching up to him. He very well may be done in Green Bay. Looks like we'll see Moll the rest of the season, but Breno Giacomini could be the pony to bet on for RT next year. The coaches like him, but he's a rookie this year and is still pretty raw.

I wouldn't mind re-signing him for cheap, just in case for depth.

It is bad and I both respect and wish the best for him, but this also does simplify a process I have been advocating... (see draft and free agent threads). The short and the sweet of it is that nonstopdrivels post is not non stopdrivel.

I just doubt he can be re-signed on the cheap. Somebody will pay him. My guess is that we will not see him n a Packer uniform again. Is he better than Moll? Yeah. Is he $5 million a year better than Moll? Nope.

This won't happen with Ted Thompson. He likes his backups to be young guys. I can't think of a single backup player on this team who is not a very young player--maybe four-year vets at most.
