I was surfing earlier today and spent time on a blog. (No I don't have the link -- I was surfing. Does the Big Kahuna take notes when he's riding the waves?)

Anyway, the blog in question was a conservative one, and debating the question of whether Obama was evil or just stupid.

I thought it suggested a possible topic for discussion. So since I make no pretense that I think our current Prez is a pinhead, I'm going to use Obama. (Others can feel free to start a similar poll for one of their least favorite politicos...)

I'm tempted to say "evil." I do think he's a manipulative sonuvabitch, a conman. And he is an Illinois politician after all.

And I definitely think his "ideas", especially his economic ones, are stupider than stupid. And his famed rhetorical skill is merely an ability to sell items without any real value -- Madison Avenue has thousands of stupid people with that sort of ability.

But I do think he has some "well-meaning" in him, too. So today I'll settle for incompetent. Well-meaning or not, intelligent or not, good man or not, he simply doesn't have what a President ought to have. He doesn't even have the abilities a "liberal" or "Democratic" President ought to have. At best he's a Casper Chocolatemilquetoast. And at worst he's a cross between Merkin Muffley, Ellsworth Toohey, and No. 2.

The guy is the best President since Reagan. The guy can't catch a break because every clown with an internet connection knows everything. Everything done is twisted to a negative or positive depending on their own views.

Problem with this country is no one has respect for anyone anymore. See someone with power? They must be a power tripping ego maniac who's corrupt!! Foolish, pure foolish.

And like Reagan, he is an expert at saying nothing while appearing to be profound and all the rest.

I admit I voted for Reagan twice. The first time I believed in him as 2008 Obamoids believed in Obama. The second time I was disillusioned, but I also still bought into the "lesser of two evils" philosophy of voting.

But apart from his first tax bill, and his recognition of Cold War realities, he was a mediocre President by historical standards. If Obama is no better than Reagan, he is, IMO, unworthy of the office for a second term.

And if the two parties can't come up with anyone better than mediocre, it's time for 'none of the above.' The country of Washington and Jefferson, Adams and Madison and even Hamilton, deserves better. If we have to settle for mediocre, then we might as well be France.

My personal take on Obama is that he underestimated his own power. I believe he ran for office believing all that fluff he was shoveling, and I believe he thought he could make a difference. The problem is congress. Not just the Republicans. And not just the Democrats. Congress as a whole. The president can't do squat without congress' backing.

And that's how it should be, frankly. The authors of the constitution set strict limits on the president's power because they knew what it was like to live under a tyrant and they didn't want to have to do it again. If we really want change, we have to start with congress. Term limits would be a fine place to start, but the American people really need to get involved and hold their representatives accountable. There's too much lazy, uninformed party-line rubber-stamp voting going on in this country. And as a result, congress is infested with bloated, self-important, squabbling children who would rather make the other side of the aisle look bad than cooperate and get things done, while still managing to get reelected term after term.

Unlike most people, I don't really buy into the "politicians are evil" thing. I'd definitely say that many are corrupt or straight-up out of touch with reality, but this isn't the movies, kids. There's a difference between out of touch and straight-up being a self-serving asshole that doesn't care what happens to anyone else. Not many people do things just to be a dick. I think Obama is well-meaning, and like any other politician he's prone to bouts of half-truths and distortions to combat the crap coming at him from the other side of the aisle not out of some supervillian need to be evil, but for self-preservation and in his eyes to combat people that are taking the country in the wrong direction. I'm not going to get into specific policy decisions since that horse has long since been beaten to a bloody pulp, but the presidency is one of the worst jobs in the world. We can't expect our politicians to be perfect, and I refuse to listen to the "Obama's trying to destroy the country/turn us into a socialist utopia!" crap any more than I put up with the constant "Bush planned 9/11 for oil and personal profit/herp derp Bush is dumb let's interpret and distort everything in a way that justifies our view" crap that went on during his terms.

People are judgmental, illogical assholes (typically with good intentions) to some extent whether they like to admit it or not, myself included. We're all too eager to scream and cry about someone we don't agree with doing X until someone we do like does something equivalent to X.

I was talking out of my ass about Reagan and his presidency, I don't know good from bad because I don't have any facts to support anything positive or negative about any of the past presidents.

I admit I voted for Reagan twice. The first time I believed in him as 2008 Obamoids believed in Obama. The second time I was disillusioned, but I also still bought into the "lesser of two evils" philosophy of voting.

It might not sound like a difference, but to me it's huge. I want someone who doesn't have to knock someone down to appear better. I want someone who is going to say I will do this, this is where we need to go, this is where we need to be and I am the person to get us there!

We raise our children to treat others with respect and if nothing good to say, speak nothing at all. Yet when it comes to running for the most powerful position in the world, its no holds barred?

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
    Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
    Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
    Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
    Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb

    Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
