It isn't hindsight, it's called foresight of old manitis. Driver had the dropsies all year last year. And since nobody ever takes me at my word, here's the fricken link. Read it for yourselves nostalgia boys. Driver is losing it and another year of putting him on the field and holding back a young guys development is beyond moronic.

This is a toughie. We not only have an outstanding wide out corps, we have a silent one. I think it's because in large part due to DD.

I want Cobb on the field, (example) but I don't want a bunch of snot-nosed mouths bitchin' about contracts and show- boatin' down the road. I worry that when DD leaves, the preservation of the relatively quiet professionialism of our wide receiver corps goes with him- A rare commodity in the modern NFL, possibly unique to us, actually. When DD goes, so does that, imo.

As for all the drops, might not be a bad idea to infuse some new blood in this corps, just to see what happens.

Our so called elite WR corp is also a product of the system. Like they say certain qbs are system qbs aka Harrell (which is now back in his pass every down offense)there are also system wrs. Think about it you pass the ball 40 times a game you can average 8 attempts to 5wrs, of course the stats will be up. Just imagine if they could actually catch the ball what kind of stats they would have and Rodgers would have.

The Divas will start showing up, we get glimpses from Finley
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Jennings. No way.
Jodry. Not his personality.
Cobb. Too young. Too much to prove before we would see him act up.
Jones. # 4 WRs rarely have a reason to be a diva.
Driver. Has never been a diva in the past won't start now.
All the extra WRs are not even sure they will make the team how can they become divas?

Finley may act like one at times but we have been talking about WRs not TEs. He won't be any worse than he is right now. He is not suddenly going to take a quantum leap into unmanageable diva-dom.

As for the system argument, that's silly to me as well. Who the hell cares if the entire team are "system" players? As long as the system works and we continue to be in the running for a championship every year, what difference does it make? Why should I care if Rodger's is a system QB as long as that system enables him to produce Super Bowl and league MVPs, in addition to the appearance of a top 3 QB in the league? The results are the same. Systems are designed to maximize the strengths of a team. They also allow somewhat seamless transition between players in the events of injuries and such. Having a system such as this is only a good thing as long as the players being put in the system maximize their ability in it.

Alex Smith is a true "system" type of QB. Player's like Rodger's, Jennings, Nelson, and Cobb would be very good to great in any system that had coaches worth half of their salary. That's the entire point of installing offensive and defensive schemes anyway. I hope that the Packer's continue to utilize their scheme as effectively as they have been the past couple years (except for perhaps the defense, which I expect to be much better this season anyway).

So what is a non-system quarterback, anyway?

How many NFL quarterbacks have had above-average success in more than one system?

lol so what you guys won the Super Bowl, it was with a bunch of SYSTEM players!!! I remember seeing on the Lombardi Trophy *Roster of System Players

Someone else mentioned this before ... I wouldn't be surprised to see Donald Driver retained on lower salary and James Jones released. That might be the "surprise" cut. I think they've seen James Jones skillset plateau and I think he has the least to offer to the team of WR than Jennings, Nelson, Cobb or Driver. Jennings and Nelson have proven they are able to be game changers. Cobb is loaded with potential. Driver still has some left in the tank (whatever that means) and has exceptional leadership skills. What does James Jones offer that can't be replaced with a promising young WR?

Edit, or another scenario, if a 1 or 2 WR goes down, someone might offer the Packers a late round pick, think six or seven for James Jones. I bet the Packers jump on it.

The problem with a "system" QB is that when he's in college, he looks good because he's in a system that hides his flaws. But when he goes to the next level, those flaws are exposed. Or he only develops the skill to run that system.

But this IS the NFL. There's no higher league to which a QB will graduate. And if our QB goes to another team, who cares if he's not as good. That's actually better for us.

Not only that, but the WCO is a "system" that's run by many teams. Even Favre, when he was traded to the Jets had to learn a new system. Doesn't mean it can't be done.

dfosterf (9m) : I'm here to help. Give me your options, I will make my suggestion, then you can do the opposite
Zero2Cool (19m) : Mainly because I cannot make a friggin decision.
Zero2Cool (19m) : Creating forum is much harder than expected haha
beast (2h) : 49ers got two picks (one in 2025, and 2026), Vikings got a RB and one lower 2025 pick
beast (2h) : Huh? Vikings have the same amount of 2025 picks as before the 49ers trade... and their 2nd round pick is with the Bills from '24 draft trade
Zero2Cool (5h) : Vikings have just four picks now. They shipped their 2nd to 49ers.
beast (15h) : 49ers sure didn't get much for him...
Zero2Cool (17h) : TRADE The 49ers are trading RB Jordan Mason to the Vikings.
Zero2Cool (17h) : and Vikings say JJ is QB1
beast (17h) : Rumors: Steelers and Giants are waiting on Rodgers answer, while Rodgers is waiting on the Vikings answer, Rodgers wants Vikings
beast (19h) : Then maybe they'll be paying you to stop
Zero2Cool (19h) : you really really do not want to see me dance
beast (19h) : Ookay, get up on the pole and start dancing, and I'll try to send people over to give you $1 bills
Zero2Cool (19h) : I'm an issue. Throw money at me, I will go away.
beast (19h) : Bears have thrown a lot of money and draft picks at QBs and haven't found one (though maybe they finally have now)
beast (19h) : Throwing money and draft picks at issues don't necessarily fix an issue
TheKanataThrilla (22h) : I keep on hearing pass rush, but it astounds me how much $$ we have invested and draft picks and still don't have one.
TheKanataThrilla (22h) : Hope we don't avoid someone like Christian Gonzalez which would have been a real gift last season.
TheKanataThrilla (22h) : There always seems to be a high draft pick that slips and is there when we pick.
Zero2Cool (15-Mar) : Aaron Rodgers hopes to sign with the Vikings, per Mike Silver.
Zero2Cool (15-Mar) : You're not gonna go for what your board says? Just straight up positions?
Martha Careful (15-Mar) : my drafts would be OL DL and CB centric. Preferably from power 4 conferences who have started 2+ years
Mucky Tundra (15-Mar) : How much of that is guaranteed?
Zero2Cool (14-Mar) : $45m over three years. Yikes.
dfosterf (14-Mar) : Seahawks sign Cooper Kupp
Zero2Cool (14-Mar) : Colts sign CB Corey Ballentine.
dfosterf (14-Mar) : At least give it some spins in your mocks. Not Martha, she's disqualified, lol
dfosterf (14-Mar) : You have to like Tyliek Williams DL from Ohio State to agree with me on this
dfosterf (14-Mar) : quality dl in the 2nd and quality edge in the 3rd
dfosterf (14-Mar) : Taking Mathew Golden WR in the 1st is consistently working out for me in getting q
Zero2Cool (14-Mar) : LB Eric Wilson to Vikings
Zero2Cool (13-Mar) : Hobbs said Jaire reached out and congratulated him.
Martha Careful (13-Mar) : ditto, I wish nothing but the best for AJ Diilan and Josh Myers. and yes dfosterf, you are correct
Mucky Tundra (12-Mar) : Love AJ but it was time to move on. Also, gonna be interesting to see how he does behind Phillys oline
Mucky Tundra (12-Mar) : Josh Myers to the Jets one a one year, 3.5 million dollar deal
dfosterf (12-Mar) : Wish nothing but the best for AJ Dillon!
Zero2Cool (12-Mar) : Eagles landed AJ Dillon
wpr (12-Mar) : The Packers did not tender restricted free agent John FitzPatrick. The tight end played in nine games after signing with Green Bay
wpr (12-Mar) : The Eagles are signing former Packers running back AJ Dillon, a league source confirms.
Zero2Cool (12-Mar) : Might be waiting for the right place, or right cash, or both
dhazer (12-Mar) : I can't believe Chubb is still a free agent why wouldnt someone take a chance on him he is a stud with stuff to prove
Zero2Cool (12-Mar) : I wanna find it too
Zero2Cool (12-Mar) : if they find it, i wanna know how !!
dfosterf (12-Mar) : According to the OTC cap figures, Miami has one minute to find 10.3 million in cap space lol
Zero2Cool (12-Mar) : lol nice one
dfosterf (12-Mar) : MVS to the Seahawks. I know Martha is relieved, lol
Zero2Cool (12-Mar) : Pelissero: Cooper Kupp to be released by the Rams.
dfosterf (12-Mar) : OTC has increased Packers cap room to over 32 mil
Martha Careful (12-Mar) : RIP Junior Bridgeman. An excellent businessman and NBA er
Zero2Cool (12-Mar) : It's better to have $17m to use on players who will be on the field. That's why trade/release is talked
