just seen a mock for 2nd round posted from Don Banks saying Peter Konz for Packers in round 2 without trading up. I would be happy with that too.

I wouldn't mind getting a stud DE but also consider:

BRANDON TAYLOR Louisiana State 5-11½ 208 4.53 3
Three-year starter. "Just remember this," one scout said. "He wears that No. 18 at LSU. Very special number. That's the war daddy number. Heart of a warrior. Incredibly smart. He plays aggressive and a little out of control at times, like Ryan Clark in Pittsburgh." Before last season, Tigers coach Les Miles asked Taylor to switch from No. 15 to No. 18, the jersey number worn with distinction by late LSU S Sean Taylor. Finished with 160 tackles (11½ for loss), four picks and 15 PBUs. "Tough kid," another scout said. "Probably be a starter. Runs pretty good. Would like to see him tackle better." Out of Franklinton, La.

Just kidding. I really think the Pack are going to roll with Peprah, Levine, or Jennings though.

Who do I want? Or who do I think likely?

Want: 1. Markelle Martin (FS). Close 2. Alameda Ta'amu.(NT) 3. Amini Silatolu (OG).
Likely: 1. Worthy (DT). 2. George Iloka (FS). 3. Mike Adams (OT). 4. Casey Hayward (CB).

Iloka would be okay with. Adams, Hayward: Please say "no," Ted. Worthy: I'll do a Foster.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

The DE is much more important than the safety. Pickett and Raji did not get adequate rotation last year, and that absolutely has to be the next priority.

It has been a rough year for former Arizona State linebacker Vontaze Burfict. But even with the latest problem for Burfict, who reportedly failed the drug test at the Scouting Combine, he’s not expected to go undrafted.

If he was a great tackler he would have gone in the first. Some experts have him going in the 3rd. He is probably a reach in the 2nd.

As I said in my first post I agreed w/ you and I don't mind getting DL help. This is just someone else to think about. Something to consider is- what do the other Safety look like if they wait until the 3rd or 4th round? They just may be a little softer.

I guess its a combination of things:
1. The Big Ten games I saw, announcers salivated over him a lot. But I just didn't see it. It was sorta like B J Raji has been for me. Before the Super Bowl year, Raji really hadn't showed that much to me. Then he had a great year (second half especially). And then last year he was just average. In 2010 he needed constant doubling. Last year, he couldn't even beat single blocking all that often. Yeah, Worthy's had times where he looked unstoppable; I'm just not convinced he's going to consistently be such. Seems to have to line up back extra far; doesn't do as well against doubles as I'd like.
2. And I think there is better DT talent out there. Ta'amu, for example. To be sure, Ta'amu is a NT and if you're thinking Worthy as a 3-4 DE he's better than Ta'amu. But good enough to warrant a 2?

With all his successful trading down over the years, Ted has convinced me of the importance of not picking players too high for the draft spot. And I think Worthy is farther from a 2nd round value than Perry is from a first.

Of course, wpr and Kevin and all the rest will torch me when I complain of Worthy at 59. (shrug)

I'd be happy if we get any one of:

DEVON STILL
KENDALL REYES
Alameda Ta'amu
Jerel Worthy
VINNY CURRY

with the #59 pick or via a trade up.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
