I found it interesting that I found 2 other mock drafts that have us taking Konz also, and then they have us taking a rb in the 2nd round which I don't understand. Also seen one that has us taking an OG in the 3rd to take Lang's place because he will be a FA after this year and they say the Packers won't want to pay big money to 2 guards.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I didn't pick Konz because he is a C, but because he was the best overall prospect available at that point. I wouldn't have picked a QB if it was the BPA, but C is definitely a position the Packers need improvement. Not in 2012, maybe not in 2013, but after that for sure. Draft is picking the best player to improve your team, regardless of glaring needs. :)

Konz is not a dumb pick in any way shape or form. He would back up all 3 interior line positions, and let a guy like EDS go, plus you have your center of the future.

I guess alot depends on the way things play out during the actual draft.

I strongly felt like last year, we were 2 players away from the SB (OLB and DL).

Center is extremely important, I just think a solid Center can be found easier in the later rounds than superb OLB or DE's.

If Konz is the next Mangold, then I would love the pick. Otherwise, I'm not so sure. A center taken at that point considering all of our other holes better turn out to truly be elite, otherwise, the pick would be questioned for some time. Unless of course, Ted solved the pass rushing situation with studs (gems) in the remaining rounds.

I'd be torn between picking either Mercilus or Konz. I could live with either one, though.

Center isn't a position with a really high value. That's both a positive and negative. For us, picking 28, that does mean that you can get a truly elite player at his position.

Pass Rushers, on the other hand, have a ridiculously inflated value. I think that, after QBs, they might be the most reached-on prospects in the entire draft. Mercilus isn't a very safe pick, but he does have that same thing over him that JPP does. Not saying he'll be that good... If that was the case, he'd be the 4th overall pick, but he doesn't have some potential to do something... Or bust big time.

With Still, Gilmore, Perry etc all gone... I like your pick, though. Especially since you managed to nab Curry in the 2nd round.

Slapnuts for you.

Konz would be the only non-defensive player I'd be alright with the Packers taking in the first round. Would be a great pick-up and our offensive line would be set for the next 10 years.

TONS of red flags on Vinny Curry. Enough to where I believe Ted Thompson won't care if he is BPA...

It might work out that way, but I hope we are more fortunate with who is available when we pick. Vinny Curry I particularly don't much like, too small for DE(266) , too slow for LB(4.9-40) and has some bagage. Watch Ted Thompson pick him and prove me wrong. LOL
