The yearly german NFL Mock Draft just finished the first 4 rounds with 32 guys taking responsibilities for the teams. I was playing Ted Thompson again and this is what I ended up with:

Pick # 28 Packers - Peter Konz, C, Wisconsin

UserPostedImage

I really tried to trade down to the early second round, but the value in the late first isn't that good this your, so noone was willing to trade up. I picked, Peter Konz out of Wisconsin, he was the best overall package available. Saturday is the solution for one year or two, but not longer and he would be a great mentor for the best Center available in this class.

Pick # 29 Ravens - Whitney Mercilus, DE, Illionois
Pick # 30 49ers - Coby Fleener, TE, Stanford
Pick # 31 Patriots - Kendall Reyes, DT, UConn
Pick # 32 Giants – Brandon Thompson, DT, Clemson

2nd round:

Pick # 33 Cardinals (from Rams) - Rueben Randle, WR, LSU
Pick # 34 Colts – Stephen Hill, WR, Georgia Tech
Pick # 35 Vikings - Janoris Jenkins, CB, North Alabama
Pick # 36 Bucs - Zach Brown, LB, North Carolina
Pick # 37 Browns - Brandon Weeden, QB, Oklahoma State
Pick # 38 Jaguars - Lavonte David, LB, Nebraska
Pick # 39 Cardinals (from Redskins via Rams) - Shea McClellin, DE, Boise State

Pick # 41 Bills -Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina
Pick # 42 Dolphins - Doug Martin, RB, Boise State
Pick # 43 Seahawks – Andre Branch, DE, Clemson
Pick # 44 Chiefs - Kevin Zeitler, OG, Wisconsin
Pick # 45 Cowboys – Alfonzo Dennard, CB, Nebraska
Pick # 46 Eagles - Jerel Worthy, DT, Michigan State
Pick # 47 Jets - Zebrie Sanders, OT, Florida State

Pick # 48 Packers (from Raiders via Patriots) - Vinny Curry, DE/OLB, Marshall

UserPostedImage

After the failed trade down it was clear that I will move up a few spots in the second to get my elite pass rusher. I packaged my 2nd, 4th and 7th to trade up to #48. Vinny Curry is a pass rush monster and gives me more than any other player I could have get at #59. Though Arrigo don't like him, I don't see anything which makes me think, that Curry could't be an all pro and a great pass rush weapon opposite of CMIII.

Pick # 49 Chargers - Kelechi Osemele, OG, Iowa State
Pick # 50 Bills (from Bears) - Josh Robinson, CB, Central Florida
Pick # 51 Eagles (from Cardinals) - Bobby Wagner, LB, Utah State

Pick # 53 Bengals – Lamar Miller, RB, Miami
Pick # 54 Lions - Jayron Hosley, CB, Virginia Tech
Pick # 55 Falcons - Alameda Ta'amu, NT, Washington
Pick # 56 Steelers - Amini Silatolu. OG, Midwestern State
Pick # 57 Broncos – David Wilson, RB, VT
Pick # 58 Texans - Jared Crick, DT, Nebraska
Pick # Saints – xxx forfeited xxx
Pick # 59 Patriots (from Packers) - Harrison Smith, S, ND
Pick # 60 Ravens - Brandon Brooks, OG, Miami (OH)
Pick # 61 Cardinals (from 49ers) - Bobby Massie, OT, Ole Miss
Pick # 62 Patriots - Brandon Boykin, CB, Georgia
Pick # 63 Giants – Markelle Martin, S, OK State

3rd round:

Pick # 64 Colts – Chandler Jones, DE, Syracuse
Pick # 65 49ers (from Rams via Cardinals) - Brian Quick, WR, Appalachian State
Pick # 66 Vikings - Marvin McNutt, WR, Iowa
Pick # 67 Titans (from Browns) - Casey Hayward, CB, Vanderbilt
Pick # 68 Bucs - Chase Minnifield, CB, Virginia
Pick # 69 Redskins - Vontaze Burfict, LB, Arizona State
Pick # 70 Jaguars - Cam Johnson, DE, Virginia
Pick # 71 Bills - Mychal Kendricks, LB, California

Pick # 79 Bears - Orson Charles, TE, Georgia
Pick # 80 Rams (from Cardinals) - Brandon Washington, OG, Miami
Pick # 81 Cowboys – Derek Wolfe, DT/DE, Cincinnati
Pick # 82 Titans - Ben Jones, C, Georgia
Pick # 83 Colts (from Bengals) – Bruce Irvin, DE/OLB, West Virginia
Pick # 84 Lions - Chris Polk, RB, Washington
Pick # 85 Steelers - Josh Chapman, DT, Alabama
Pick # 86 Falcons (Slide from #84) - Michael Brewster, C, Ohio State
Pick # 87 Broncos – Chris Givens, WR, Wake Forest
Pick # 88 Eagles (from Texans) - Trumaine Johnson, CB, Montana
Pick # 89 Saints - Jeff Allen, OT, Illinois

Pick # 90 Packers - Tyrone Crawford, DE, Boise State

UserPostedImage

I would have loved to get Derek Wolfe or Chris Polk here, but they went off board right befoe I was on the clock. Crawford is very raw with only 2 years experience, but he has all the skills you want to see for a 5-technique 3-4 DE. Plus he's better in rushing the passer than all of the other options available.

Pick # 91 Ravens - George Iloka, S, Boise State
Pick # 92 49ers - Josh Norman, CB, Coastal Carolina
Pick # 93 Patriots - Bernard Pierce, RB, Temple
Pick # 94 Giants - A.J. Jenkins, WR, Illinois
cPick # 95 Raiders - Nigel Bradham, LB, Florida State

4th round:

Pick # 96 Rams - Travis Lewis, LB, Oklahoma
Pick # 97 Bengals (from Colts) – Ryan Broyles, WR, Oklahoma
Pick # 98 Vikings - James-Michael Johnson, LB, Nevada
Pick # 99 Texans (from Bucs via Eagles) - Demario Davis, ILB, Arkansas State

Pick # 106 Seahawks – LaMichael James, RB, Oregon
Pick # 107 Chiefs - Dwight Bentley, CB, ULL
Pick # 108 Broncos (from Jets) - Brock Osweiler, QB, Arizona State
Pick # 109 Redskins (from Raiders) - Brandon Mosley, OT, Auburn
Pick # 110 Chargers - Isaiah Pead, RB, Cincinnati
Pick # 111 Bears - James Brown, OT, Troy
Pick # 112 Cardinals - Malik Jackson, DE, Tennessee
Pick # 113 Cowboys – Philip Blake, C, Baylor
Pick # 114 Eagles - Joe Adams, WR, Arkansas
Pick # 115 Titans - T.Y. Hilton, WR, Florida International
Pick # 116 Bengals – Brandon Taylor, S, LSU
Pick # 117 Lions - Josh Kaddu, LB, Oregon
Pick # 118 Browns (from Falcons) - Cyrus Gray, RB, Texas A&M
Pick # 119 Steelers - Trevin Wade, CB, Arizona
Pick # 120 Broncos – Tank Carder, LB, TCU
Pick # 121 Texans - Senio Kelemete, OG, Washington
Pick # 122 Saints - Ron Brooks, CB, LSU
Pick # 123 Patriots (from Packers) - Jarius Wright, WR, Arkansas
Pick # 124 Bills (from Ravens) - Ladarius Green, TE, Louisiana-Lafayette
Pick # 125 49ers - Jake Bequette, DE, Arkansas
Pick # 126 Patriots - Trevor Guyton, DE, California
Pick # 127 Giants - Lucas Nix, OG, Pittsburgh
cPick # 128 Vikings - Antonio Allen, S, USC
cPick # 129 Raiders - Tony Bergstrom, OT, Utah
cPick # 130 Ravens - Juron Criner, WR, Arizona
cPick # 131 Giants - Vick Ballard, RB, Mississippi State

cPick # 132 Packers - DeQuan Menzie, CB/S, Alabama

UserPostedImage

With Nick Collins' future uncertain, I had to adress the backfield. Menzie is a great tackler and very versatile, he can play the slot receiver as well if he's asked for. And to be honest, you cannot do anything wrong with picking an Alabama defender 😉

cPick # 133 Packers - Nick Toon, WR, Wisconsin

UserPostedImage

More a heart than a brain pick. There really no need at the WR position, but Toon is such a good package you cannot ignore end of the 4th round. Very good route runner, awesome leaping abilities, overall a player that you HAVE to pick there, regardless of need. It would have broke my heart if he slipped out of round 4.

cPick # 134 Vikings - Ronnie Hillman, RB, San Diego State
cPick # 135 Cowboys - Junior Hemingway, WR, Michigan

Due to the tight time windows and the bulk of work I have to do in the next 2 weeks, I shifted the responsibilties for rounds 5 to 7 to another Packers fan on the message board.

Any thoughts on my work, positive as well as negative?

🇹🇹 will draft a WR so that's not a silly pick by any means. We especially want solid route runners. That's what 🇲🇲 and 🇦🇷 want.

Surprised you're picking a C for the first round but we'll see. I've had ex-girlfriends who were easier to read than 🇹🇹.

Draft is picking the best player to improve your team, regardless of glaring needs. :)

I could see taking Konz f the draft fell that way. It wouldn't be my first choice but oh well. Selecting Whitney Mercilus wouldn't have broken my heart either.

Watching IL play their games I have seen a little more from him than the average fan.

Redshirt as a FR, got into a few games in his 2nd year(RS FR). Played in all the games and started a couple his 3rd year (RS SO). Was a beast when he finally was given the chance his 4th year (RS JR). It was just one year but he showed progress every year.

Mock Drafts are just fun and thank god my opinion isn't important anyway. If I have a look at all those players I mockdrafted over the last years, the Green Bay Packers would be front runner for the 1st overall 2013, but not the Super Bowl [grin1]

McClellin or Curry are good players. I only meant I think Mercilus might be a special player too. but then I have been wrong many times myself.

Man if we take Konz, we sure as HELL better be able to get short yardage. Not to mention some holes for our RBs.

Konz is not a dumb pick in any way shape or form. He would back up all 3 interior line positions, and let a guy like EDS go, plus you have your center of the future.
