I finally figured it out. I also get an added bonus, because I get to make yet another reference to the movie, "My Cousin Vinnie". (Melissa says, Oh, ya, you Blend---love that  )

My "My Cousin Vinnie" equivalent in our former punter:

With all the punters out there..........they picked Frost. The guy sucked in Washington (so i heard) and hasn't changed.
Oh well.....can't get them all right i guess.
Ron Wolf let Hentrich go, and he admitted it was one of his biggest mistakes.
Hentrich is STILL punting.

I think you are overstating things, IronMan. For most of the season, Frost was right in the middle of the pack in terms of his averages. His net average was almost identical to Jon Ryan's. It's only in the last four weeks or so that he has really begun screwing up on a regular basis.

And I don't think this affects the team that much, anyway. If fans had their way, half the roster would've been cut by now because so many players have been disappointing this season. But you just can't do that. For the most part, management has to make a go of it with the players they have at the beginning of the year, because signing street free agents and players off the waiver wire is just a stopgap that only works occasionally.

Frost's numbers were inflated by a number of punts that were so short & low that the returner let them hit, and then they'd roll 20 yds and be touched down for a 48 yd punt with no return.

What gets me, is that (reading the MJS) Stock is throwing Frost under the bus and trying to make out that the punting was responsible for us losing recent games:

Special teams coach Mike Stock agreed that the punting, which he said "right now (is) the biggest problem we have," has affected the outcomes of games. Asked if considered the recent losses to Tennessee, Minnesota and others to be attributable to poor punting, he said, "Every one of those. You have to punt the ball good. And you have to punt it consistently good."

In another MJS interview, he said:

On the field position game: "I don't think we lost too many of those last year. What plays into that a lot of the time is punting. Punting is a big part of hidden yardage because it's all about punting the ball. When your offense doesn't get the first downs and then you have to give it back to them, hopefully you give it back to them with a 40-yard net. We did that a bit last year so we had access, at least field position wise, to field position that was a little bit better for the defense going on the field. We didn't have enough of that this year."

My personal opinion is that Stock needs to take a little more responsibility for the performance of his units, especially how he prepares his guys to cover kickoffs. Getting gashed on kickoff returns to the 45-50 yard line hurt more than the 5 or so yards they lost on punts, in my opinion.

When asked about his role in Ryan getting sacked, here's how Stock responded:

How much of a role did you have in Jon Ryan's release and bringing in Frost? "This is the Green Bay Packers organization. The Green Bay Packers."

I'm hoping the MJS is misquoting Stock, because otherwise I'm losing any respect for the guy I had.

Well, I'm not surprised that the special teams coach thinks that punting affects the outcome of games. I think it's understood that as the special teams coach, he shares responsibility for any shortcomings on those units. Maybe he should've been more upfront about that--or maybe he WAS more upfront, but there were things he said that were not included in the article.

Also, I don't think it would be good for him to be blabbing to the media about the decision-making process in acquiring Frost. Ted Thompson hates that kind of talk, and I'm sure everyone else in the organization is well aware of that. Like it or not, Stock was just repeating the company line there.

I think this whole thread is making mountains out of molehills. Thompson's move of dumping Ryan and acquiring Frost turned out to be a bad one. End of story.
