Matt Flynn - There already is a thread on Flynn. I hope a noncapbusting deal can be achieved. It is however beyond the Packers control.

Scott Wells - Having failed to draft a Center in recent years makes this a signing that almost has to take place.

Ryan Grant - It took time to recover from a serious knee injury. The reality is he is likely facing a pay cut. I am indifferent whether he returns or not.

Jarett Bush - This is more of an indictment of the back ups behind him being unable to perform. There better be a sizable hometown discount. I plug my nose, close my eyes, and say it is a signing that has to take place.

Finley - The drops, mouth, and screw ups have lowered his market price. Ted will not have to spend nearly as much as some thought at the begining of the season.

Howard Green - He remains a cheap temporary solution until the Packers find someone better for the roster spot.

Pat Lee - Even at veteran minimum he is doubtful to make the team. The bust label is appropriate.

Come September after the final cuts I think only 3 of the above players are on the roster. Wells, Bush, and Finley.

If we lose Scott Wells, I'm going to say some very bad words. So will 🇹🇹 and 🇲🇲. Guaranteed.

I'm sure we want Flynn back. I don't know if we can afford him though.

The rest, I'm indifferent.

If they were vital a deal would have already been made (with the exception of Wells).

The Center makes the line calls reacting to what a defense presents. Experience is very important. The Packers have to pay Wells because they have not developed talent behind him.

Unfortunately they don't have much challenging Bush so he will get resigned.

On the whole we should be grateful that more problems do not exist and that guys like Aaron Rodgers and Jody Nelson have low contracts compared to many others with less talent at those positions.

I'm not anti-Bush like a lot of the people here. He's a damn good gunner, and when he's in defensively, it's usually due to injuries. So I said it before and I'll say it again, don't be hating on Bush. Hate the injury bug.

I will say that I was surprised they bench Howard Green for this game. They must have thought that the Giants would be focusing on their passing game over their run game, which they did, but if benching Green was intended to free up more guys for the secondary, it sure didn't help. The Packers still gave up at least 4 plays of 20+ yards, and Eli Manning averaged an incredible 10.0 yards per attempt. The Packers succeeded in shutting down the run game but had no answer whatsoever for Manning's arm.

And I would blame that on the lack of pressure.

From my memory, when we got pressure on Eli, he rushed throws and threw a lot of incompletions. When he had time, he completed everything. Someone can go re-watch the game and prove or disprove that statement but I'm not in the mood to re-watch it. I think I'm right though.

I think you better add Driver and Clifton to the shitcan list. You can't justify their salaries to me, no way no how. I would like to see the money saved on them stuck into defensive free agents. Keep Finley, Wells, and everyone's tick turd Bush.

The pass rush was bad for most of the year but that shouldn't be an excuse for the secondary. Almost none of our DBs had a good season.

A good example was a 3rd and 11 in the first quarter where we rushed 3. The Giants kept 7 guys to block on that play so we had 8 defenders to cover 3 receivers. Eli hit Nicks for about 15 yards and the pass wasn't even contested he just caught it and went down. The pass rush this year shouldn't get any more blame than the secondary, both were pretty awful for the most part.

For every pass play where the pressure failed to get home there was another where the DBs had a miscommunication or failed to get a jam or bit on a fake or just plain got beat. I don't know what many peoples aversion is to putting anything on our secondary but as a unit they were pretty awful this year.
