I have been saying all year that there is no accountability on this team. Making the same mistakes over and over again, mental errors every week, are a few reasons.

But allowing Frost to continue to hurt the team for 11 weeks, is THE reason.

If I was a player on this team, why would I think I should be held accountable, when someone is allowed to screw up for 11 weeks with no consequences?

There has to be at least a degree of fear in a player that he may be replaced if he doesn't produce.

It is good they finally cut him, but if I was a player on this team, I would have already lost a lot of respect for the coaching staff for allowing this to go on for as long as they did.

Do you think someone like Parcells or Lombardi would have allowed this?

How motivated would you be at your job if you had to repeatedly pick up the slack for someone that was screwing up all the time?

I believe this situation has affected the team more than people realize.

Frosts head is not the only one that should roll. The accountabilty you speak of also leads to possition coaches that don't perform and cordinators.

Better yet, a player sees the head man not able to own up to a mistake and rid the team of it quickly..

Ironman.. I am with you.. there are a few players.. cough Colledge and Clifton, that week after week make stupid mistakes and play with poor fundamental, yet they are given a pass..

Point is, all people make mistake, error or lose focus here or there.. but repeated issues is not acceptable..

Fool me once.. shame on you.. fool me twice.. shame on me.

The me, is the lack of leadership and accountability that is running the ship right now.. and the shame of it is that we are so very close every week..

We don't need a major overall, we need tweaks and increased focus in the same areas.. that is a coaching issue to bring that out..
Mike McCarthy you have some tough calls and choices to make this offseason to clean some of this up within your staff.. which will then trickle down to the players via knowing you can be demoted if you can't bring your A game each week, each single play.

Player and teams will lose to opponents.. but losing to yourself for your own mistakes... that is a hard bullet to bite.

I think you are overstating things, IronMan. For most of the season, Frost was right in the middle of the pack in terms of his averages. His net average was almost identical to Jon Ryan's. It's only in the last four weeks or so that he has really begun screwing up on a regular basis.

And I don't think this affects the team that much, anyway. If fans had their way, half the roster would've been cut by now because so many players have been disappointing this season. But you just can't do that. For the most part, management has to make a go of it with the players they have at the beginning of the year, because signing street free agents and players off the waiver wire is just a stopgap that only works occasionally.

I think the overriding theme for this year has been that sucking is a total team effort. Frost is especially easy for me to hate on, because, well, because he's a friggin' punter not named Reggie Roby, who is the only one that comes to mind when I think of the possibility that this guy could actually play football if he wasn't a punter  . When you cannot do your job either, say as an offensive or defensive lineman, or perhaps a special teams cover-guy, or a linebacker...you have other fish to fry besides...a foreskin-reject punter...Now Stock, if he is truly the culprit in getting rid of Ryan...strap him to that train that left the station and run him out on a rail,

Your point is valid, but it would take a mighty big set of cojones to start resenting on the punter when not performing your "real" job, imo...plus the way I hear it he was awesome in the Don H. center or whatever.

Agreed.. but parking a player that week after week is under performing and sending a clear message to others isn't too much to ask from a quality coaching staff.. more targeted at the position coaches and DC.

That is the crux of the ax that some of us are grinding.. in the case of the punter.. making a roster change is the only option in play. Or carrying two.. ala Sherman.

Agreed... but definitely part of the collective problem.. and a clear telltale sign of some of the underlying problems on this team currently. IMO.

That being.. we claim to practice like Tarzan but play like Jane.. as a collective group.. something is amiss.

yes, and naming a scape goat means not taking accountability for you portion of the problem.
