I might call people dumbasses on a regular basis; but I would never, ever, point out a gramatical or spelling error. Talk about insulting. [grin1]

in a standard X,Y,Z setup Welker usually lines up as the "y" or slot reciever.

as for being a "#1 reciever", it depends on your definition... who gets the most targets/catches, or who lines up in the X.

Welker's skillset, combined with the Patriots' scheme makes him their primary WR IMO.

as a side note:

I really want GB to copy the Pats twin-TE scheme.

I recall a lot of folks pissing and moaning the Packers used their first pick of the 2008 draft on Jordy Nelson in the 2nd round. I fail to remember who folks were wanting or even the position. I just know quite a few were not thrilled with the Packers picking a WR.

I think people were mainly perturbed by Ted Thompson dropping back into the 2nd round and then using his first pick on a receiver.

As for me, it wouldn't bother me if the Packers drafted a WR (or TE) every year. As we have seen this season, the loss of even one of our WRs can have a pretty dramatic effect on the Packers' offensive output.

Maybe people get excited during the draft for the same reason they get excited during games: It's fun. They don't necessarily mean anything by it.

I don't know. The main thing I remember from that draft was being thrilled to get Brian Brohm. Shows how much I know.[palm]

Back on topic - anyone else notice that Jordy Nelson had 2 TD receptions each year for his first 3 years, and he has 12 after 15 games in 2011?

Like I said earlier, it's like we got a whole different WR. But then again, WRs take probably longer to develop than any other position besides QB. Driver wasn't that impressive his first few years. Gregorious and JJ though were pretty good their first few years but they were flukes. Cobb as a WR hasn't had many opportunities and it's not a knock on him, but because we got so many good WRs that he's our #5 right now.

I don't like Cobb's route running abilities but then again, most rookie WRs can't run routes worth a damn so I'm not worried. He'll get better, especially with guys like Gregorious, Driver, and Jordy showing him how it's done.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : It also says he is subject to another ballot in 2028. I recall nothing of this nature with Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy is on my ballot subject to me penciling him in as a no.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : Because I was too lazy to change my address, I haven't voted fot years until this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
Zero2Cool (25-Jun) : Maybe wicked wind chill made it worse?
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : And then he signs with Cleveland in the offseason
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : @SharpFootball WR Diontae Johnson just admitted he refused to enter a game in 41° weather last year in Baltimore because he felt “ice cold”
