Not that you said it was but height isn't really a factor. Jordy is the tallest of the receivers and he has a good percentage.

It was just an ironic comment on the cliché that Finley's height makes him a mismatch nightmare.

Interesting stuff, Z2C. Honestly, I'm surprised, that Cobb has the highest percentage on this team, as I remember a couple of drops.

There might be 2 reasons.
A: He's that explosive to get rid of the defender very quick
B: As the #5 WR on the team he's facing only the lower talented DBs

I guess it's a combination of both, it'll be interesting to see him now as he has to get more responsibilities with Greg out.

Of course, he'll get better. Driver didn't start off a great route runner but now he's the real deal. Gregorious picked up route running faster than just about anyone I've ever seen.

Back to Cobb, you are right about A & B. He's got an after burner where he gets a little bit of separation and if you're a DB, you're in trouble. Plus yes, #1 & #2 CBs are generally facing Gregorious, Driver, and Jordy but rarely Cobb.

Let's have a little common sense when dealing with rumors.

1) No team has seen Gurley practice.

2) There opinions would be based upon the preseason.

3) Gurley does not "know" the other team's offense. How much would he pick up in the last couple of weeks and help that team?

4) With 80% of the season complete there is plenty of film on the Packers so a team is unlikely to sign a player to get a playbook for the playoffs. Coaches have spent many hours studying every gesture of Rodgers for clues.

5) Is the source of the rumor Gurley's agent? Agents are salesmen. Many downplay the abilities of players signed with other agents and overstate their own client's status.

In this twitter bad rumor/gossip age, let's be careful before accepting everything you hear is true and from a reliable source. Especially in February and March when agents are trying to find their clients jobs.

Even in the 21st century bad rumors are bad journalism.

The agent of a hungry practice-squat player hyped in the preseason might, though, especially when given access to a popular platform like that site.

I believe this was another rumor predicated on an educated guess. The author most likely guessed that Greg Jennings had an ACL and would be put on IR, thus Gurley would be the logical player to be activated. All in hopes of saying "Look I told you so, my sources are rock solid!"

There are a LOT of folks who do that, which is why I'm usually skeptical of any independent "source" rumor.

I agree with you Cal Cheez. So much so I applaud you. I have been somewhat skeptical on the tweet this whole time. But keep this in mind, a team that would want to pick up Gurley this time of the year would not necessarily be looking for him to contribute this season. When you look at most other team's WR 1-5 group they are no where near as good as GB's quintet. And Gurley as #6 is better than many team's #4 and with a couple years of experience probably even a lot of #3s. It would not shock me to see someone make him an offer now and avoid the stampede after next summer's TC is over. Keep in mind that it is possible that Donald retires/is cut before the 2012 season. That will open a slot on the Packer team. It is better for other teams to make their move now while GB has no place to put him.

I've read that Driver is likely to retire many times now on this forum, is there a reason for this? Has he mentioned it? Or is this all your own speculation?

I can see the going out on top thing, but it seems like he enjoys the game far too much to retire early just to go out on top, especially when this team is loaded and would likely be the favorite next year as well.

I was just wondering if in interviews during recent weeks he has mentioned retiring or something, based on so many people speculating.

But he does not get the only vote. He does have a contract through the 2012 season but that does not mean he will get paid based on the current contract. 2012: $2.6 million (+ $2.2 million roster bonus + $200,000 workout bonus)  You only have to look as far as Hawk or Bennett to see that.

It is possible they could resign him to a more favorable contract. It is possible they could honor the existing contract. It is possible they could tell him they have no plans for him in the future. I DON"T KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT YEAR. What I said is if the FO decides they like Gurley and want to make room for him next year, it is POSSIBLE he gets the spot on the team now occupied by DD.

I like Donald. Before the season I argued as loud as anyone that they need him on the team this season. What can not be denied is his production was fallen off dramatically for a number of year. In 2006 he had 12 receptions for 1295 yards averaging 14.1 yards be catch. It has dropped almost every year since then. Last year it was 51 for 565 yards and a 11.1 avg. This year 31 for 357 with a similar avg of 11.5. If Jennings played the next 3 games Donald would not match last years numbers. He now has a chance. But it is not a given that he will.

My last post was sort of based on that issue. DD has not really preformed this year and it is possible they will want to do something else next year.

Well, looks like the Gurley rumor wasn't true. Probably just normal speculation based on Jennings being out being turned into something more than it really was. 🤥 😞

Where my Tori Gurley at? Damn you, Ted Thompson! DAMN YOU!!!

I take that last post back. Looks like there WAS some fire behind the smoke!-

From twitter-

RobDemovsky- Gurley said he did get a raise from the #Packers but wanted to stay here anyway cuz if he went to Minn, season would've been over in 3 weeks 9 minutes ago

RobDemovsky- WR Tori Gurley turned down the Vikings offer this week to stay on the #Packers practice squad. Vikings offered a roster spot.

Yeah, well I have a source that says it was all Tori Gurley's agent that facilitated that rumor to get Gurley a raise. Prove me wrong or my source is 100% credible!!!! Factoid!
