I get that Nr. 1 QBs make a lot of money and I get that you'd rather not have the nr. 1 overall pick sitting on your bench, albeit at a better price than before with the rookie salary cap, but I see no way that the Colts will trade Peyton, even if they do pick Luck.
There are so many reasons to keep Manning around for at least one more year (asuming he plays again).
First of all, the mentor role, showing the kid how it's done. I mean, I can't imagine a better mentor than Peyton if he's willing to help.
Secondly, that team is a mess. I wouldn't want to David Carr my Andrew Luck. Try to get some picks and build that thing back up. It's not the decent thing to do, but let Manning play behind that shitbox O-line, with that horrible defense and that mediocre all-around team. From a business standpoint, he can get beaten up from there on. You have Luck waiting, anyway.
Lastly, a QB coming back from an injury like that is rather risky to trade for. A QB coming back and have a solid year nets you something better in the trade market.
