Their numbers remind me of the 99 St. Louis Rams. If I correctly recall, that defense was opportunistic and didn't give up a lot of points. They did give up a ton of yards, though. Perhaps a better comparison is the 09 Saints. They won without a dominate defense.

I guess all these stats that are being posted give reason for discussion.

The only stat that really matters is that w-l stat(7-0).

I guess I like to keep it simple, win the turnover battle, and your team is going to win most of the time, the really good teams(2010-2011 Packers for example) have the talent to overcome turnovers and still win. hasn't happened yet this year, but last years playoff game against The Eagles was 1 example.

The bye week has come at a very good time for The Packers, hopefully Woody,Williams and Shields can get rested and healthy.
Burnett, Peprah and Bush have stepped up, the more experience they get can only help.

The Packers offense has carried the team the first 7 games, let's get The D healthy the next 2 weeks, because their time will come to pay back the offense with a win or 2.

Don't we lead the league in defensive snaps where we only rush 3? We won't set any records playing prevent half of the time.

We may go 16-0 if we do though. Which is a lot better than setting a fewest yards record.

I might have the Saints a little higher than they actually were. Anyway, we're somewhere in between right now and we have the potential to be better than either one. I think our offense is better too, and that's what's really scary.

The Packers defense may have issues, but does it really matter?
We can keep winning without the D improving, but I do think they will improve. I think Neal will come back and add some pressure, but even if he doesn't, I think DC will figure something out. Dude can get it done.
He's probably saving all his fancy defensive calls for the playoffs.

Yeah, it's the mid-season lull.

Neal was hopefully going to come in this season and be the replacement for Cullen Jenkins, but the guy can't even get on the field. Raji is really the only "elite" defensive linemen we have and his play has been a bit inconsistent this year. Wilson, Wynn, Green, and Pickett are okay players and form a decent defensive line rotation but are hardly the best 3-4 defensive line group in the NFL.

I do feel our pass rush would improve at least slightly with a healthy Zombo rotating in with Walden and getting Neal back who will still hopefully play this season. Still, I think it's pretty safe to say the pass rush took a pretty big hit when Cullen Jenkins signed with the Eagles.

Raji showed in the second half of last season that he can be dominating, but in my book noone can play 90+% of the snaps and be explosive and dominating every snap, atleast not big d-line men. Raji has his youth which does help him here.
Pickett is getting old and is primarily a run defender, as is Green.
Wynn and Wilson is not Jenkins, not even close.

I agree with the overall sentiment that our D isnt hurting us much yet, and they are helping themself with the turnovers to keep us in top 10 in points. I would however prefer if the D would get off the field quicker and not needing the turnovers to get stops.

beast (30-Jan) : College Coaches wouldn't want that publicly, as it would hurt recruiting and they might not get the job.
beast (30-Jan) : I thought they were supposed to publicly announce them, at least the NFL ones. Hafley was from college, so I believe different rules.
Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Who knows who they're interviewing? I mean, nobody knew about Hafley and then out of nowhere he was hired
beast (30-Jan) : I wonder what's taking so long with hiring a DL coach, 2 of the 3 known to interview have already been hired elsewhere.

beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
