Yeah, the Packers of 08-10 were definitely more talented than the Packers of 07. For one thing, we had a much better QB.

Rodgers in my view, is a much better QB than Favre ever was.
Favre is totally insignificant in this season. All for one and himself.
I am a woman and I love football.

The radio station that Brett was speaking to issues a  statement saying Brett's comments are taken out of context. That's new, the radio station saying it, not the person who said the words?

Mike Florio says that Brett Favre "could be that Brett is now ashamed that he" said the words. Why? He has every right to be bitter and I don't believe anyone can blame him. You play the game to win the Super Bowl, right? Yes! Brett knows he shouldn't have retired in March '08, that's obvious by his returning several months later.

From what Brett, Mike and Ted have publicly said, Brett felt rushed to make a decision. Ted and Mike did the rushing because they felt there was no question Brett would return. Instead, Brett retired, shocking Mike and Ted both. Brett realizes several months later, hey I wanna come back, I made a poor decision to retire. When the Packers don't give him his starting position back, he's pissed. WHO CAN BLAME HIM? Yes it was HIS decision to retire, but the dude knew the Packers were RIGHT THERE ready to take the next step and he wanted to be a part of it.

Hey, even I laughed when Brett quipped that he probably still owns the interception record at Ole Miss.

I feel better about these comments listening to it rather than reading it, though i still have this suspicion he purposely didn't give rodgers enough credit. It's whatever, they are debating his comments on espn first take as i type this.

Yay, another excuse to bash Brett Favre - we really needed one, lol.

I will never understand it but to each his own. I can't think of another player that did so much for a franchise but there are fans that discredit him on every opportunity. Even Dan Marino is more beloved in Miami and he didn't even win a Super Bowl. I get the bitter-ness about him leaving to play for the Vikings but the bashing on him in 93/94 or 2004/05, etc - I just do not get. We had one losing season and won a SB, the franchise was crap before he brought it back, he was part of the reason guys like Reggie White and Charles Woodson came here to begin with.

Headlines online about "Favre says Rodgers should have won earlier". He followed that up by saying that he was waiting for them to hit their stride because if they did, they couldn't be beat. These comments about the 2007 team, how this team is more talented that the 2007 team, I don't understand how you wouldn't think that - Clay Matthews anyone? Plus the maturity of Greg Jennings, etc. And some how out of all those comments he just said, those the things people are attacking? He's not talking about the 1996 team, etc.

We're 4-0 with a QB history of Starr, Favre and now Rodgers. There are franchises like the Vikings and the Dolphins. And this is one of the most popular topics right now amongst GB fans, why?

I don't understand why people like you feel the need to defend him any more than other people feel the need to bash him. He was neither as great as his defenders make him out to be nor as bad as his detractors claim. I think his body of work -- his accomplishments and his mistakes -- can stand on its own merits. I do believe that Favre is given entirely too much credit for the renaissance of this franchise, however, probably because he was lucky enough to win his first game in dramatic fashion and make the playoffs his first season. Given the environment that people like Ron Wolf were creating in Green Bay, if his career hadn't come to an untimely close, it very well could have been Don Majkowski whom people were worshiping.

Or maybe nerdmann is right and it really was something about Favre's redneck demeanor that ignited the fervor. It certainly wasn't his stats his first few seasons. And it definitely wasn't his postseason exploits either before or after the Super Bowl years. Maybe Majkowski never had a chance in Green Bay, no matter how well he might have done.
