I love the diversity of smart and stupid comments in chat. After 14 years in the Navy, bitching just sounds like normal speak to me so I am right at home (and also participate at times).

It is also a statistical proven fact that my children have learned 50% less swear words from me during packers games due to the invention of PH chat. I have to thank packershome for making me a better parent.

Yeah... My take on the whole gameday experience isn't that far off from yours...

I'd like to say, the GameDay Chat's are not bad, as some flippid comments may perceive. It's an enjoyable experience, unless you get bent out of shape easily. Some people like to vent, it makes them feel better. Venting into a chat room is their "exhaust" for their "bad fumes" so to speak. Nothing said in the chat should be taken personally. It's lightly moderated and you can ignore anyone at anytime, therefore there's no excuse to bitch.

Good people do not type stuff like some of the crap that goes on in Gameday Chat.

Do you not realize that people are fully capable of compartmentalizing their lives, and that how they act in the chat room might function purely as a release, purely as entertainment?

I have met quite a few people in real life whom I originally met online, and you know what I have found? People's online personas rarely resemble their real-life personalities. For example, I am a pretty outspoken person online, and yes, I like to scream and cuss a bit in the chat room (though I don't write any of the stuff you quoted above); but in real life, I am such a quiet, soft-spoken person that my wife sometimes deliberately starts fights with me just so she can see me worked up. I raise my voice so rarely that when I do yell or swear, people jump and ask what me what the matter is. Both Rockmolder and zombieslayer have met me in real life and can testify to how quiet I normally am, while Rockmolder watched the Super Bowl with me and can tell you how much I yell and scream while watching football . . . alternating between moments of ecstasy and agony at the drop of a hat. Good or bad, football is always a thrill -- that's why I love it.

Going online, like watching football, is a game. In many ways, it's an act. It's a harmless way to experience raw excitement -- and yes, sometimes even work out frustrations -- so that one doesn't act like that in other areas of life.

Don't make such sweeping judgments of people's character from their online persona as manifested while watching a violent game. I certainly do not.

LOL, the only person I've seen get all pissy like a bitchy little girl and quit the chat in a huff is RP. That said, he came back and apologized. RP is kind of an old fuddy duddy who thinks everyone should get a crew cut and become NEOconservative, but he's a good guy. He'll man up with you, rather than holding a grudge or staying all bitter against you.

What he said. Nerdmann, we didn’t let Arizona hang around because Green Bay played from behind the entire game. There was never an opportunity for Arizona to hang around because they were never behind. Newsflash: Arizona let Green Bay win the week before.

This is the same argument people have about the Grant v Starks debate. Starks is clearly the superior player, but people like Grant, because they identify with him. Most people are themselves not spectacularly talented or well endowed with god given skills. So they tend to hold that against the winners, the people who are better than them. They tend to identify with the underdog. That's cool. Especially if your team is an underdog. But guess what. The Packers are the world champions. We are the Goliath right now. I'm not gonna sit here and root for us to act like the underdogs, just because most of the fans are themselves mediocre in real life. That doesn't satisfy me emotionally. But then I myself am not mediocre in real life.
This is the same with all the Favre worshippers. Yeah, he always melted down in the playoffs. But people still worshipped him, even though Aaron Rodgers was clearly the better QB. Why? Because they identified with him for emotional reasons. They hated Arodge, because he knows how to shower regularly. They called him gay. Ted Thompson too. Why? Because Ted and Aaron are not dumb, scuzzy, uneducated white trash. Plain and simple. They don't care how good of a player he is. They care about how similar he is to themselves, as a person.

Was going to ask (I realize this might have been posted elsewhere),

- I just installed win7 64 bit on my computer and cant seem to bring up gameday chat; using ie 9. Any idea? I can bring up the screen and looks like the stream would work but the chat errors.

- Will we be having streams of the games like last year? or is it harder to be done since zero is in ... how do I call it. Elway land ... :)

thanks

Martha Careful (3h) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife

Zero2Cool (1-Apr) : uh oh
Martha Careful (1-Apr) : Too bad camera's can't spot the ball as well.
Mucky Tundra (1-Apr) : So will the chain gang be gone completely or will they still be around as a backup or whatever?
Zero2Cool (1-Apr) : The method for measuring first downs in the NFL will switch from chain gangs to camera-based technology in 2025, the league announced.
Martha Careful (1-Apr) : A big step in the right direction. Just put in the college system is very very good.
