Are knowledge and credibility even a pre-requisite for sports writers anymore?

It's kind of a catch 22. I respect the old players and coaches, especially the ones with long, successful careers. That doesn't mean I need to watch them on the pre-game shows. Mush-mouth Shannon Sharpe should not be a color commentator, now or ever. He speaks with a major speech impediment and has no business on the NBC team team. I do not believe Michael Irvin belongs on those shows either because a man that was squeezed through the legal system such as he, should not be coming into my television on Holy Sundays. Nor should there be a bust of him in Canton.

That made me laugh nearly as much as Urlacher saying the Bears are better than the Pack.

Our instructor said something similar about me during Composition I. Although, I've heard that for years, even during High School. I've always liked writing, wish I did it more often.
