It's good through 2011.

I don't see us trading him either. As alot of you have said, our young corners need another year in the nickel. Even with Tramon replacing Harris our secondary would take a notch back without Harris' presence alone. He's one of our big energy guys on D, I wouldnt wanna see him go for a draft pick. We don't need more picks, we need a few vets.

My gut tells me that he (Al Harris) knows something that we don't, otherwise he wouldn't be talking about this being his last year, especially given he's still performing and is a vital piece of the defense.

I wouldn't put it past Ted Thompson to trade him away. He wasn't shy about Rivera, Wahle, Sharper, or Favre for that matter, why stop there.

Of interest, I googled Ted Thompson to see if there were any other key veterans that were traded that I forgot about; no big names, but I found this section kind of interesting:

WIKIPEDIA: Ted Thompson is held as one of the worst GM's in Packers history after trading away the team's, and arguably the league's, greatest player of all time. Thompson made the 2008 season even worse when he decided to sign inexperienced quarterback Aaron Rodgers to a long term deal after only few lack luster games. After what is turning out to be a disappointing season for the Green Bay Packers in 2008, and messing up what could have been a Super Bowl season, there is the beginnings of a growing dissatifaction with Ted Thompson among true Packer fans.

He will play until 2011 then he will either re-sign for cheaper for like secondary duties or either retire or walk away from packers. Nothing more, nothing else.

That Wikipedia entry pretty harsh.. true in obvious areas but i think the true packer fans were expecting a season like this, we're not bad, jus inconsistent.. i dont think any of us really expected us to go 13-3 again with a new qb. Ted Thompson did what he had to do, Arod would have most likely been a wasted pick if he was to be a FA if we brought back 4..and Rodgers is gonna be a beast so I'm embracing the future for the Packers. Ted Thompson isnt no Ron Wolf but he rebuilt this team and bult a hell of a team.. he has his flaws tho everyone knows that.

Sorry to go off-topic..

I was able to go to that section and delete it...So yeah, let's use wikipedi for a fact???

Wikipedi is good for SOME stuff, things of this nature aren't really worth to much..

He did say he'd be okay with playing Nickel or Dime. If he's true to his word, I think trading him for any draft pick is a waste. He still has talent and behind Woodson is considered one of the veteran leaders on our team. With all of our youngers, we need that personality in our locker room and on the field.

I do believe The Packers will make a late run and make the play-offs, if they don't and finish at or below :500, look for the following players to be gone by next year.

Clifton
Tauscher
Harris
Woodson
Driver

I have no inside info:, this is just my opinion, after watching Ted Thompson operate the last 4 years.

The window is closing for these players to make another run at the superbowl, if it doesn't happen this year, Ted Thompson will go younger and start building for another run in a few years.

The biggest surprise of all next year.......Greg Jennings will not be with The Green Bay Packers, he will test Free agency and get an offer Ted Thompson will not match. I hope I am completely wrong on this one but don't think so.

The Packers are trying to extend and redo a 4 year contract Greg signed in 2006. Greg is under contract for the packers through 2010.

As much as I dislike TT, I can't imagine him trading away all of those players. That would be football suicide. But then again, who would have thought in Jan 2008 that Favre would be wearing a Jets uniform this year. If he did that, this team would be done for and he'd have to put his GB house up for sale.

I don't like this "let's make get the team younger approach". I think it's foolish to trade away proven, high quality veterans and continue to bring in drafts. I don't think it necessarily allows you to make a run at it in 3-4 years. If you're lucky and were right about all of those drafts, then maybe. But history shows us that a it's a gamble - some drafts work out, some don't. And by the time you get every position filled with a young talented draft, you're earlier drafts are now high paid veterans that want millions a year to play.

Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season

dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.

Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
