I'm not saying I don't want to keep Jones. I'm happy that he's with the team with the price we paid for him. Besides, I think he's worth more for the Pack than any other team (reason why other teams weren't willing to pay him more than what we offered him), and that is very much a positive for the Pack. He is a weapon for us and have done good for us. What I wanted to get across from my first post is that I fully expect Nelson to become more of a contributor this year than Jones. That doesn't mean I don't want Jones contributing. I"m sure all of us would be more than ecstatic to see him have a great game.
I'm just sort of looking at it from the perspective of who is still continuing to improve, after x number of years. I feel like Jones already reached max potential his 3rd (or 4th) year, while Nelson has still shown improvement from years past. And we have a couple of WRs in the practice squad that though may not have the same upside as Jones, could get more play time and produce more for the team whether it's from catching a pass or not.
As for "Packer people", I for one think it makes a difference in a team. I feel like the quiet, humble, unassuming guys who just works hard and kicks ass on Sundays has a lot to do with our SB win after all our "key" guys went down. And sorry for bringing it up, as it seems like you guys don't agree with the thought. I said it once and I'll say it again, that's just my opinion. I have my own stories to tell as to why I say this, but it's inappropriate in this thread.
This should be the end of my Jones discussion. I sincerely do hope he puts up Pro Bowl numbers for us this year. Anything to help us repeat, I'm all in. But that doesn't change my opinion on this subject.
