We weren't that good in 2008. The Panthers are that bad. Steve Smith was the best WR in the NFL something like 8 years ago. He's old now. He's their entire O.
Their D isn't that good. We'll light them up.

Panthers finished 13th in rushing yards last season without any real threat from the passing attack with a combination of rookie QB's and overall poor skill players surrounding the passing game.
Consider this for example.. the Panthers threw for an anemic 2635 yard (per
PFreference ) and 508 yards of that was to the running backs. No single receiver went for more than 555 yards on the season.. Steve went for 554.
Steve Smith had 563 total yard on offense of the 4481 yards total.. that is 12% of the total output. Their backs produced 2254 total yards.. or 50.3% of the offense.
I don't expect with Cam starting for the Panthers to be a dynamic passing team.. so I don't expect Smith to be the key to stopping the Panthers again this season. Their team passer rating was in the 50's.. not a single QB (with more than 10 attempts) got over a 60.
There is a reason they had the number one pick (combined with a struggling defense - 26th in scoring).. they had weak passing game to compliment the running game.. I suspect it will be better this season, but hardly a threat so to speak yet.
