Well I guess if you are a star, a punch doesn't cost so much. He confessed right away and didn't squawk. The NFL likes that too.
He has been around for years and never gotten in trouble with the league.
He got off light but that is okay to a Packers fan.

Multiple sites are reporting that there is a standard NFL "Fine Schedule" that is provided to players at the beginning of each season. According to the most recent schedule I could find on the internet, Fighting is a $10K fine the first incident, $25K fine the second incident. So it looks like Charles was fined exactly what any first time offender would have been fined for throwing a punch.
These fine amounts are the minimum, and circumstances can raise the fine (punch to the head, injuring the other player, etc). None of those seem to have been present in this case.
