Remember that post in the second place thread about the Bears imploding.. well the flame just grew and some gasoline is in midair.

Lance Briggs has escalated his situation with the Chicago Bears at a difficult time for the franchise.

The six-time Pro Bowl linebacker has formally requested to be traded with nine days to go until the start of the regular season. Briggs is unhappy with his contract – a $36 million, six-year deal he is halfway through – and he wants out after a holding a meeting with general manager Jerry Angelo.

"The Bears made their decision , now I have to make mine," Briggs told Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune. "It's just how the business works. It's not going to take away from what I do on the field. I'm 100 percent a Bear, until I'm not a Bear anymore."

"The oranges are dry; the apples are mealy; and the papayas... I don't know what's going on with the papayas!"

The Bears have only one battle this coming season. It's against the Vikings for 3rd place in the NFC North.
