Normally I post the first part of the article. If I can only do a portion I wanted to pot the last part.

Then there’s outside linebacker Vic So’oto, who is making a late push to make the team. So’oto said he chose to sign with the Packers over free-agent offers from Arizona and Miami.

Why Green Bay?

“My wife kind of made this decision,” So’oto said.

Packers outside linebackers coach Kevin Greene first called So’oto during the draft, hoping to recruit him to sign with the Packers. But undrafted players weren’t allowed to sign until after the lockout. In the meantime, he spent part of the lockout working out with Packers’ players Brad Jones, Brandon Chillar, Brett Swain and Jarrett Bush.

“She kind of liked the whole Green Bay feel, and she said, ‘Well you’re working out with those guys, and I really have a good feeling about Green Bay,’” So’oto said. “So I live by the motto: ‘Happy wife, happy life.’”

He has been impressive. With Zombo out, he has a decent chance of making the roster.

It will be interesting watching him Thur against KC. I would think he gets major minutes.

To me.. So'oto has looked a bit stiff on the corner and I am a bit concerned about him in terms of him playing the backer spot in totality.

That said, there is little questioning the overall physicality he brings to the table.

I would like to keep a couple of these young guys on the roster and rotate them in different situations to play to their strengths. Just don't think with roster counts that is going to happen.

Pups I would like to keep.
  • DJ Smith
  • Lattimore (looks smooth in transition, needs work in pass rush)
  • So'oto
  • Elmore (don't think he gets through the PS route.. and he was too productive in college to give up on so quickly)
  • Francois (change his jersey number)


Just the numbers do favor keeping them all... Smith and Francois have better odds due to playing inside.
