From what I've heard if there is no damage to the joint, the recovery could be a 4-6 week maximum. It might even be a 3-4 week recovery. If that's the case, I don't see Zombo going IR. I'm sure the packers will look at the injury in detail to see if that's the case. If that's not the case he will probabley hit the IR list.

Jones is down with a knee too... didn't hear that. Young bucks get a big shot...

Linebacker broke scapula during warm-ups against Arizona Cardinals

Green Bay - The pain was excruciating, far worse than the broken scapula Frank Zombo suffered in pregame warm-ups at Lambeau Field Friday night.

It was the phone call letting the Green Bay Packers linebacker know he had suffered the fracture that hurt so much more.

In fact, Zombo played through the injury against the Arizona Cardinals thinking that he had suffered a bruise. The fact his arm was slightly numb and hanging more than usual off his left shoulder was something he tried to ignore.

"I was just going through normal drills and I got hit in the back by a helmet," Zombo said as he struggled to put on his shirt and the sling that was to go over it. "My arm kind of went numb, but I just played. I guess it was just adrenaline.

"Afterwards, I didn't think much about it, but I wanted to get it looked at."

On the way home, Zombo got a call from someone on the medical staff telling him tests had shown he had broken his scapula, or as it's more commonly named, the shoulder blade.

"Unbelievable," Zombo said, adding that he doesn't blame the perpetrator, fullback John Kuhn, for the accidental collision.

"It's not his fault," he said. "It's just unlucky."

The most recent Packer to suffer a shoulder blade fracture was tight end Spencer Havner, who broke it in a motorcycle accident. The prognosis for recovery for him was four to six weeks, but it ended up taking longer. The other notable shoulder blade break was to safety LeRoy Butler in 2001. It ended his career after 12 years.

Assuming the four-to-six week time period, Zombo might not be back on the field until October.

...

The Packers would appear to be in a bind from a depth standpoint because Jones suffered a sprained knee in the same game and might not play this week against Indianapolis. But undrafted rookies Vic So'oto and Jamari Lattimore have had solid camps and are trying to hook on the same way Zombo did last year.

....

"It showed his toughness. We're looking to get him back as soon as possible."

I'd like the Packers to cut ties with Brad Jones. He's often injured and when healthy not that much more than average.

Frank Zombo is probably gonna go to IR since he can't be PUP'd.

I think we know where Erik Waldens confidence came from. He Tonya Harding'd Brad Jones and paid John Kuhn off.

IR = Season

PUP = first 6 weeks.. however you have to been on the pup before camp.. once camp starts and you have practiced at all.. you are no longer eligible for the PUP list. Additionally I believe it the 9th week that the player either must hit active roster, IR or cut.. I believe it is a 3 week period that they can practice before making a decision..

Zombo is one tough s.o.b. to play an entire half with a broken shoulder, regardless of the severity. I was rewatching some of the game last night and was wondering which shoulder it was. At some points it looked like he was holding his left arm up differently. He took on blocks from the tackle and made a few tackles with a broken shoulder and that is impressive. Hoping he has a speedy recovery because I think he was the best option to play opposite of Matthews. Walden is good, but has more holes than Zombo and Brad Jones is a turd.

This is correct. I wish they would have changed the parameters in the CBA to allow players to come back after 8 weeks. It would have been good for everyone.

Well everyone but the fringe player who would be cut.

Your idea would be even less. Each would give additional opportunity to players.

dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
