We’ve read the always-excellent Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel long enough to know that he doesn’t make statements simply for the purpose of getting attention.

So when he says Matt Flynn has outplayed Aaron Rodgers in training camp, well, we take notice.

“Maybe the coaches have scored it differently, but from a sideline view, backup quarterback Matt Flynn has had a better camp than starter Aaron Rodgers,” Silverstein writes.

Flynn looked great in his preseason appearance against the Browns last week. He’s also been playing well at practice.

“If scouts from other teams were allowed to attend practice, they would be making calls back home as fast as possible,” Silverstein says.

The positive spin here is that the Packers have one of the best backup quarterbacks in football. The negative angle is that Rodgers hasn’t enjoyed a standout camp.

“Rodgers, for the most part, hasn’t been as consistent,” notes Silverstein. “Some of his throws have been off, and some of his connections with receivers not as crisp.”

Silverstein isn’t concerned about Rodgers and we aren’t either at this stage. We talking about practice.

I said it in the Keep Flynn thread ( I think) that the Packers are going to showcase Flynn and entice a trade.. either this season if the price is high enough.. or via the franchise and trade him next season if the market will bear better than a 3rd round pick..

Otherwise.. they will allow him to walk and pocket a 3rd for developing him over the years.. but my guess is that we will tag him and trade him come of the offseason.. if Kolb can garner what he did, Flynn should be close to that value if he continues to shine in the preseason.

But he has a noodle arm, and the only teams he could be successful with are those that are loaded. Teams desparate for a QB, usually are not loaded, and Matty boy will be just another flop. His best gig is toting the clipboard on the Green Bay sideline.

But whatever, get what you can for him I guess.

But since you stuck your nose into it: Rodgers has all the qualities needed into being the QB all will be judged from - strong arm, intelligence, control, responsive to coaching, pussy magnet, and most important - will always play with a chip on his shoulder, because of hard road he traveled.

Fits all the things I loathed about Montana.. I would shut off the audio in place of having to listen to the announcers verbally sucking him off every broadcast.. then Marino and Elway.. then Favre.. freaking infatuation with QB's is sickening.. lol.

No wonder why even as kids those that play the position have cocky attitudes.. and those damn "don't touch me" red candy ass jersey's.. drive them into the dirt I say.. hard. lol.
