I think the most notable thing for me last night was the line play of Green Bay vs the Browns.

Granted it is only the first game and I am using the Brown's of last season as a comparison, in which the Brown's weren't overly dominate at the line of scrimmage as a whole. I will concede the the Browns left side of their offensive line is very formidable.

My observation as a whole is that we got it handed to us on both side of the ball at the point of attack.

The Offensive line struggled with pickups in pass protection in all three groups of play, and rarely opened anything in terms of running lanes.

The defensive line applied little pressure all night and other than the first stringers, didn't hold up at the point of attack very well.

Just the first "preseason" game, and that we have plenty of time to correct issues, just in a comparative nature I believe our line play to be 'behind' at this point.

Just a first observation off the game last night.. I will be watching it again and may alter my opinion or see it differently, but that is what I most noticed last night.

Thoughts.. other areas of note, both good or bad?

I agree with your general impression, though I can't get into specifics without watching the game again. I was surprised by the lack of pass rush generated by the #1 defense.

I think it was Clifton, Sherrod, Wells, Sitton, and Bulaga for the first series, then Lang took over for Sherrod for the second series.

Sherrod wasn't really challenged during that first series at LG. I'm kind of scared to re-watch the game because I thought I saw him getting blown up at LT...

I thought the holes created for the running game during that second series were fine, and Starks took full advantage of them.

Pack, I left some random thoughts in the "game day" thread. I pretty much agree with your statements.

Didn't we play the Browns in our pre season opener last season? I believe they beat us then too. I agree that the lines on both sides need work. Much like they did last season at the beginning.

They got some good looks at Lang and Sherrod.

They have to do some juggling to get a look at everyone and give them a chance.

Defensively, you know Capers shows nothing in preseason. Nobody gets tape on their stunts and blitzes. You can gripe all preseason yet see a huge jump opening night.
