I think it's simply not as trendy as it used to be. Today's kids are a little smarter and a little more health-conscious, and a lot more sophisticated. We used to dream of Heineken - our kids dream of Cristal. I think swilling beer has lost its glamour over the last 20 years...
When I was younger, I never really liked beer. I drank (a lot) because most of my friends did (and many of them may have been drinking for the same exact reason). Now I don't drink nearly as much beer as I did when I was younger. Over the last few years I've become a real "wine snob", although if I need to get mellow in a hurry I'll reach for the hard stuff.
